Are you laughing at Riki-tiki-tavi?
Another thing came into my mind, in the old India gardeners liked to plant those shrubs and plants which flowers is liked by butterflies (for example Buddleia davidii). I think it is worth to read the building and planting story of the Viceroy’s Garden New-Delhi. Although in Lahore may be preferred the islamic…[Read more] -

Ohhh I just see now that you live in a tropical place 🙂 I spoke just as you live somewhere Europe 🙂
So the questions now is that which is that few shrubs of those which you can use in your home city is not good in Lahore. And when they get water every day in the arid season too, most of tropical shrubs can be used.
Will be there walls on the…[Read more] -

Lahore. Do not use cedrus deodara! 🙂 everything else can go. I was afraid of this question. Shrub. I think all kind of shrubs can live there 🙂 So, Yasminum sp. Myrtus, Rhododendron I have already told. There are so many and I know just a few. Something interesting: there are plants which can live in Europe only for one year. These can be by…[Read more]

In Pakistan??? 🙂 In Pakistan where? So, I’m not joking, but I think Pakistan is great and has several type of landscapes. The northern territories are high mountains good planting here Cedrus deodara and several types of Rhododendron (and lot of other plants which is well known in Europe, for example Prunus avium 🙂 ), the moguls planted huge…[Read more]

Your point is well taken. Architects in general, once the basics of site analysis and programming are worked though, do have less ‘evolving parameters’ to work with… in general. Buildings are meant to withstand all types of weather, whereas LArchitects, are also dealing with plant materials and other ameliorating factors that tend to transform…[Read more]

I’ll also agree, In the last dip in economy I had receivables that were 180 days old. My days were spent making phone calls to almost beg for a payment. In some cases begging LARGE companies for a couple K to pay some bills.
This will pass, Old acttive firms will be smaller, New firms (of old associates or partners or recent grads) will spring up…[Read more]

To continue with my explication,
I am more accurately likening my own perspective to that of intolerant jerks ..(there, how’s that)
It is jerks who vehemently insist that groups have single identities…(“All LA’s don’t know plants!)..This type of analysis leads to racism..and is actively and quite accurately discouraged in our society..
I saw…[Read more]

It is funny. It’s almost like it’s a different situation today than previous recessions I keep hearing about here and elsewhere.
I believe I did start that thread about architecture. Maybe I’m alone on this. I certainly enjoy design, but there has to be a balance.
A close friend has been working since they graduated over a year ago. There’s…[Read more]

no no no!! I am saying that people who actually believe that groups are unniform, i.e., that the blanket statement , “all LA from california are flashy” must be absolutely true – people who are unable to nuance their opinon of groups for individuals are the jerks..
You guys are making the OPPOSITE argument (most recently..) You are saying that…[Read more]

I’ve never been to a Mike Lin workshop, but I was living in Reno till February of 2008. I worked for Tom Stille (Interpretive Gardens/Pinyon Design) for about a year and a half. Now I’m in Boise, ID, though. Do you work for Hansan Landscape Architecture?
