Here’s one of my favorites: http://pedshed.net/
There hasn’t been anything new on there for about a year, unfortunately. -

I don’t think those statistics are being tracked nationally. There are lots of vital statistics that are not being tracked. I know a few LA firms who have all but thrown in the towel (none of them large), but I know a number of architecture and engineering firms that have closed. Around my region, there has been lots of consolidation and buyouts…[Read more]

Does anyone have a statistic on how many firms have closed? Has the profession lost big numbers of firms, whether one person or large, or has it only lost big numbers in staffing?
I’m not seeing or hearing of any firms closing down in Massachusetts. There have definitely been a lot of people laid off, though. -

Hong Kong Landscape Architecture 14 years, 9 months agoHi all,
I am a 4th year student who has previously worked in China and then also visited Hong Kong. Where I fell in love, with the city that is (!). Now I would really like to go back and I thought it would be really nice to spend a semester there. Do you guys have any ideas at all of courses or schools within the field of urban planning/design…[Read more] -

Well, I’m not the one who turned down a job offer because I thought the office space was filthy or complain about RLAs for not giving an opportunity to the entry level grads to work under their wings as an intern. I think you are the one missing the point, mister. Did you read the other responses. No? Generation Y wants to constantly talk on their…[Read more]

Most of my favorite design websites are non-design related websites like this one:

I also really like these:
http://www.terrain-urbanism.com and

The size of your office isn’t as important as the size of your paycheck. I cannot believe what I’m reading from some of you. A bunch of pansies! No wonder American corporations are exporting U.S. jobs overseas due to all your office demands. For me, just give me a desk, adequate space, nice computer and projects to work on. You know, projects that…[Read more]

I frequent Landezine, but they cover mostly European landscapes… Anyone know any blogs about new, cutting edge landscape designs in the States or by la firms from the States?

China is what made me switch from International Environmental Policy to Landscape Architecture and so I now feel the need to give back in some way shape or form. Excitement abounds.

Quick thumbnail sketch #1
It is only 3″x4″ in size and colored with markers and colored pencil using all six colors (red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple). Outlined with Prismacolor black pencil. Took only 5 minutes, it is a great way to communicate your great ideas quickly with your clients. Remember, the best designers who don’t need t…[Read more] -

As long as you know the tips on setting up a quick 1 point perspective method (not 2 point, as it will take longer), and just use pen (LePen, Stylish or Pentel Sign pen) to sketch quickly. I will post the quick method in the near future to share with everyone.

It is so true that small sketch can save time and able us to draw without fear. However 2″x2″ seems to be too small. Keep it in 2×3 or 3×4 or 4×6 will be good for correct proportion.
