Let me just add to my last with a couple of tidbits. Don’t worry about taking all the tests at once. I have not noticed a lot of overlap – each section almost entirely pertains to its stated material. Frankly, I think folks that say “that test had nothing but section # material on it!” likely did not prepare long enough to know that they were being tested on the germane material. Yes, there may be a few questions that pertain to a different section. Some people take them all at once for bragging rights – who do you actually plan on bragging to? Your mom is the only one who will be impressed by the feat – everyone else will just act impressed. The only exception to this advice is if (a) you don’t have a job or other distracting responsibilities or (b) your state requires that you finish testing within a stated span of time (and even then…). 25 years from now when they are considering you as a fellow they’re not going to care how quickly you got through the licensing process. The other bit of advice is an expansion of my last. Keep in mind, you’re not just studying to absorb factoids you can quickly regurgitate in a room full of computers and cubby holes. You’re studying so you can hone your professional instincts. The more you truly take in the more successful you will be at answering those questions you don’t immediately know the answer to because you will have a larger pool of knowledge by which to use your skills of abduction and deduction. (Yes, I love run-on sentences). Also, never underestimate the power in knowing that the correct answer to a multiple choice question is right there on the screen. Eliminate those choices that “feel” inconsistent with your current database and select the answer that guarantees health, safety, welfare or efficiency. Lastly, for comparative purposes, I should mention that I never took one practice exam nor do I plan on taking one.
