    Wow then I am glad, glad I didnt take the California job. I feel bad, bad for those who work in California.

    Cost of living does affect pay scale. No one anywhere wants to pay more than they have to for employees or anything else. When the cost of living is high, it takes more to get employees to come and work for you if they have any other choices. It is not because someone says “we should pay more because the cost of living is high”, but because when no one shows up to work, you need to shell out more money to get someone.
