Social media – collecting information and developing digital maps with kids.

I’m working on project that will entail working with several elementary schools.  Our expectation is to help empower the students to collaborate on the design process and document the project through out.  

One idea I had was to create some form of ‘memory map’ I’m calling it,  for the kids to document their past experiences and memories of their existing play grounds.  Any help on how we might conduct this would be helpful.  

One idea was to create a massive ‘mind meister’ map where kids can post digital images or ‘ideas’ to a collective map….  

Any other suggestions, ideas, or references would be greatly appreciated.
