Specifying Soil Mycorrizae

Does anybody out there specify soil mycorrizae? There is sufficient research supporting the idea that supplementing mycorrizae will help plant establishment and growth, but I haven’t been able to find any information on how to specify it. I don’t know if any of the products on the market are worthwhile, or how much I should tell contractors to use. I would also love more info about whether it’s safe to assume all sites that weren’t recently forests could benefit from inoculation, or if it’s only really needed in unusual situations.
