If finding a landscape designer/architect job in the States is a dead end, can you think of other countries that are hiring?

If the States is a dead end, Italy is a black hole without comeback.

Maybe no, without comeback, but at the moment I can’t see any light at the end of the tunnel.

    Good luck!!!

It’s not dead in the design-build area where I see smatterings of ads on sites like simplyhired, indeed, monster etc., although they make it clear that the work involves selling, estimating, and crew supervision…and a person might have to move to them.  There may also be stacks of candidates to compete with, but there are definitely ads. It’s the design-only side that’s especially hurting.

There has been more work in the Middle East and China (both economies are slowing down); Brazil should be picking up – large architecture firms have already established presences there.  That being said, unless you have language skills that can make you able to fit right in, you might be best served knocking on doors of firms that do work abroad in these locations.

Note that few firms will post positions, even in the best of times may firms let people come to them rather than advertise – these days one ad can get 300~400 responses making the task of sorting through the material challenging.

That’s a humorous way to put it!
