I don’t know if you still need ideas for your plants. In the past I have referenced a beautiful book called “Oriental Gardening”. The book looks at Japanese garden design within the framework of creating these gardens in North America. The book was put out by the Japanese garden society of Oregon in 1996. It has an excellent pictorial guide to many herbaceous plant, including perennials, mosses, and grasses (and woodies). If you can’t find a copy I will lend you mine. Note that a few of the plant selections are now considered invasive,
