Great question, Holly! Regarding the budgeting feature, are you referring to a design budget for tracking hours or a construction estimation tool?

Would like to see the solution to this, as well.

Eric or Neil – Can you post it online so all can benefit?  Thanks!

Beautiful garden detail.  Did you use subtle forced perspective?

Thanks for posting your question!  As Dennis mentioned, you can click the “Jobs” tab to view all jobs. We have also added a View All Jobs option under the main tab to improve usability.

    Thanks for the feedback!

What do you mean, Krystal?  I am curious to know if anyone has experience using the Keysoft Landscape software.  Can you shed some light?

They offer a free download. I’d be curious to know how you think it measures up 😉

Have you checked out Dynascape?  Depending on the scale of project that you work on, it might be a perfect solution.

Vectorworks is all-in-one solution that is trusted by the top designers in the world – from large studios like Peter Walker to boutique design studios like Jeffrey Gordon Smith.  The product is awesome and is supported by a very stable company.  If I were to start my own studio, I would get everyone on Vectorworks.  A former co-worker went from our AutoCAD+Land F/X office to a design/build studio running Vectorworks and couldn’t believe how easy it was to learn and use.

I have the most experience using AutoCAD + Land F/X and agree with Tyson that it is a huge time-saver.  If you do irrigation design, their IRR FX software is by far the best irrigation solution available.  The company is very small, which makes them nimble to incorporate new features quickly based on user feedback.  However, I would not base my decision on this alone.

It comes down to what you are looking for in a CAD solution.  What are the must-have features that want?

    Miles,

Thanks for updating us on your project!  You can add more photos to your existing project by selecting the project when you are uploading the photos.  Here’s a screen shot:

Also, if the Flash Uploader is giving you trouble, try the simple version here: https://land8.com/photo/photo/new

Thanks again and keep sharing your awesome work!

Oh, now your talking turf species! Like the additional info Craig 🙂

Yes, stolons/rhizomes are a nightmare.  So, be sure to specify a bunch grass like tall fescue, rye, or bluegrass (if you can grow them in your area).  Stay away from bermuda and St. Augustine!

I’d vote for Permaloc over steel edging for a DIY project.  I designed a friend’s garden and he installed it himself using Permaloc edging.  It is light weight and extremely easy to assemble and install.

Steel edging is heavier and slightly more difficult to work with, but could also be installed by a DIYer.  Though, I’d go with Permaloc for easy-of-use.

    Hope this helps!

    Hey David,

Jumping in kind of late in the discussion.  You’ve already received a lot of great advice, so assuming you’re open to a little more – here are my two cents.

It is awesome that you have some demand for your work and expertise in architectural graphics.  I wouldn’t worry about charging the right amount at this point.  The ‘right’ amount really comes down to how much someone will actually pay.  So, I would just be upfront and ask them. Crazy, right?

Focus on developing your personal brand (ie. your name : expertise) and use the opportunity to gain experience teaching your craft. Then leverage it to get your name out there even more, so it can lead you to your next gig.  The money will come later.

Also, never be afraid to share your expertise – even for free.  Sharing your work and knowledge is the best marketing around.  Hence, the purpose of Land8 🙂

    Hope this helps!
