I’ll try to to respond to a few of these..
Have not found any gabion details from EDAW projects yet – although i’ve seen some good photos posted on the Parc Diagonal del Mar project in Barcelona.Hopefully these framework plans lead to implementable design as they have in the past. Cultural aspects have been considered although often they seem…[Read more]

Hi there,
I’m doing a project with 3m high free standing gabion wall using welded mesh baskets (75 x75mm grid) filled alternately with sandstone and basalt to simulate coal seam profile. Does anyone have a detail for the structural support for this kind of wall? Thanks for any info. -

Craig, how far does the framework plan go?
Sounds like there are plenty interesting projects going on in China especially the brownfield redevelopment part. Did you guys associate any cultural issues with the plan? There are always stories behind those rivers with thousands of years of history in China. Besides, the reuse of industrial sites is…[Read more] -

those projects in China sound pretty interesting. Do you have any graphics/photos/details of the projects? I’d like to see anything you have to share, especially in regards to the reuse of industrial materials and the sustainability framework plan.I also checked in our Alexandria office for details/specs for gabions and apparently we just…[Read more]

greetings from Beijing… Fascinating work here in china for those of us starved for it in the states. Alot of environmental challenges as well as freedom for cutting edge design. it’s not for everyone though..

The the streets on the island of Bali in Indonesia are rather amazing. A contradicting yet some how functional mosaic of temples (Balinese Hindu), tacky souviner shops, bars, resturants, massage parlors, internet cafes, etc. all spilling into a 20 ft wide alley (street) that is already full of taxis, motorbikes, donkey carts and peds.…[Read more] -

In Sydney, there is a magnificent avenue of Moreton Bay Figs (Ficus macrophylla) along Anzac Parade. They’ve been there for well over a hundred years and create a dramatic canopy over this wide, major thoroughfare.
