This time, I hope you’re wrong Rob, but you’re probably right – sad.

There is a big difference between the Federal Reserve and the Banks! Make no mistake the Fed is in charge.  They control all the rules, including how much reserve money the Banks are required to hold.  A lot of people do not realize it but every time a Treasury bill is auctioned some one is obligated to buy it.  If foriegn or private investors do not buy it  the Fed calls all the banks and tells them what their contribution will be towards the purchase of the T bills.  Today the world uses the US currency as the worlds reserve currency.  If Austrailia wants to buy oil from Iran they have to purchase it in US dollars.  This has given our economy a huge boost over the years.  The day is coming soon though where that may cease to be the case.  Country’s like China get pissed fast when we “monitize the debt”  i.e. print more money and increase inflation.  By increasing inflation the Fed reduces the impact of those holders of T-bills on our economy.  If the Fed goes to far then the world economies will pick another countries currency to become the worlds reserve currency and that will be economic armegedon for us.  When foreign investment drys up the Fed will be forced to either increase inflation dramatically, or Congress will be forced to Raise taxes and or cut spending and right now we see a mixture of all the above.  And we are NOT out of the woods yet.  This could get really ugly.  And if it happens you will think that 2008 was the best year ever!  If you really want to have your eyes opened watch this video! http://www.stansberryresearch.com/pro/1011PSIENDVD/PPSILC42/PR

Steve, how much ‘reserve’ the banks are required to hold is now at about nothing, due to the ‘power ‘ of the FED, which they largeley delegated to the banks..That is a big contested part of the Dodd Frank rule, and it looks like the banks are winning, with no ‘skin in the game’ being required AGAIN, despite the debacle of the bailouts. Oh yes, the FEd is very powerful!!! Except that they are ALL ex-bank CEOs, and think that the world revolves around bankers profits..

ps, I also recommend some paul Krugman for you, on how important it is right now for us to pay off our national debt –  NOT..Have you heard of Paul Krugman? Nouriel Roubini? Joseph Stiglitzt? Or do you just go with Steve Doocy and rolled up sleeves guy,  for your wall street opinions..

PS, you obviously don’t use the internet if you think it is hard to control..Many people are spending a lot of time making sure you don’t read about Julian Asange, Bradley Manning..Just read Drudge, and compare it to Media Matters, and you will see that media has the postential to be shut out by internet serch engines..

How about when Iran stopped all texting, for almost a week? Our government could do that with the flick of an ATandT box, that have been being installed for investigating all your e-mails, since Bush decreed that it should be so, that american can be wiretapped.

one man one vote is part of the problem, you can’t deny it – politicians spend all their time fundraising, and Citizens United opened up the floodgates to corporate influence..

I always vote, whistling “Be kind to your web-footed friends” as I go..I love it..In Fresno we use a good old pencil, to mark the ballots..But if you think it is one man one vote, you know nothing of Karl Rove’s dirty tricks in Ohio, of the republican push to bring back Jim Crow, and of citizens United, not to speak of PAC’s etc.
