Back to Andrew: One of mine in the long ago qualified, and led to a desperate followup state of affairs (kept under various recessions of past times memories)….but another popular sun-moon-stars alignment is roughly around midyear. I ought to make a list of the months of occurrences someday, including the reverse leave-takings. Widen the topic…[Read more]

It’s probably all in how you can justify the shift in resume retelling, but needs to be shown as some kind of career move with as little gap as possible (hide private life quality factors). Moving for “license credit” itself would be worthy looking but like you say, that’s less convincing if you’d still only get partial credit. Try to mask any…[Read more]

actually, I was under the influence that the arch. had her license; the firm is based out of CO and they were one of the final states to require licensure. She did not fill out the appropriate paperwork to be grandfathered into the license. I feel as though I am treading water in my professional career pursuing golf architecture in an extremely…[Read more]

The environment wasn’t all that good for a lot of the “previous generation,” either depending on where they found themselves at what point, etc. But be careful about the leap…wouldn’t the golf course design work keep feeding your search and count as experience in pursuit of a license? Even at partial credit? Try to be sure any other bridge…[Read more]

I am 3 years removed from receiving my MLA and I have already come to realize that this is a dog eat dog world and that most of the time, the individual willing to sit back, will be taken advantage of. Unfortunately, I have more of an ‘old school’ mentality with dedication and loyalty first on my mind.
I currently am going to be walking away…[Read more]

No, but three years ago at this time I was very concerned about being laid off because I could see that we were slowing down. I work for one of the nicest people I have ever worked for – not all warm and fuzzy in your face nice, but a person who quietly does extraordinary things for you kind of nice. He did layoff a couple of people. Fortunately,…[Read more]

Depends on the county around here, but many times both the architect or civil engineer can stamp landscape plans.

I landscape the homes I have lived in using mostly “dumpster plants”. I also pay keen attention to the “infirmary” sections of the wholesale nurseries. Very unusual things can be found there.

It is stimulating to receive such response. In Puerto Rico, that is not the case. Every installation in the concrete/asphalt isle is contaminated with chefferas, Ficus hedges, lawns and palm trees as any one could confirm in recent posts regarding Pendemismo Paijasista, the dominant trend/school for the last 40 or 50 years. car…[Read more]

I’ve found that that is the key with folding bikes and tricycles, Jason – has to be full size..I hate those 22inch wheels..
I was looking at a shimano folding trike on amazon – only $250..
but I love my Sears cycle tote – it has a single nut in the middle, that holds it together – it doesn’t fold as much as turn into two pieces but the design is…[Read more] -

It was a really weird problem. The seat post got stuck in the seat tube, because I never oiled it. It got all corroded. I took it to a bike shop, and they tried getting it out without any luck. They told me they couldn’t get it out without destroying the bike. So I took it home and tried every suggestion I could find on the internet. Nothing…[Read more]

Funny how nearly every type of car is perfectly identical in shape, size, color, and rotation. If you look closely you can see some cars have no shadow or little shadow compared to it’s neighbor. I also don’t know of a freeway that large in Shanghai. It’s a photoshoped image…

Unless you cracked the frame, you can fix the Monty pretty cheaply, because it does use universal parts. I was climbing a hill in too high a gear and the cassette fell apart. We’re talking bearings enywhere. Just bought a new one off of Nashbar for less than 20 bucks. I wanted to fix it myself, but with my limited space, I just couldn’t manage i…[Read more]

No job security? Tell that to Dan Inouye, Hawaiian Senator since 1954!!
I’m just being a little dramatic, Craig. LA not dead…yet. LOL. Example: I’m looking at a plan right now of a proposed new development on Maui. Kihei high school plan has no landscape architect on board. Just Arch and Civil. The architect did all the fancy graphics, concept…[Read more]

Ida,
True that Beijing and Shanghai can = L.A. or NYC. But, only on a small scale. Look at this photo of a highway in Shanghai. Not even the worst LA traffic has looked this horrible. I don’t think our manufacturers used lethal chemicals in the making of toy products either. Guess where America ships its poisonous mountain of old cathode ray…[Read more] -

I had a montague for a while, and I really liked it. Unfortunately, it’s unusable now, so I got a non-folding Kona. Eventually, if I ever have excess money again, I’d like to get a Brompton. They aren’t full sized, but many people consider them to be the best folding bikes out there. I tried riding one at a shop in Seattle and really liked it. A…[Read more]
