I so appreciate your contributions to this scintillating philosophical about the crucial direction or mis-direction and accompanying trajectory our country is currently on. You viewpoint, while a bit edgy, are useful here. A couple of unsolicited suggestions might help you in your next reply:
- Drop the use of the Ayn Rand manifesto cliff…

So, if I am all for a free market for the most part, but want the government to prevent multi-national companies from dumping toxic waste into our drinking water or something, am I still an evil socialist? Should we let businesses walk all over us in the hopes they might decide to give us a few jobs? Is it only abuse of power if the government…[Read more]

Hey Mr. William Davenport (a.k.a. Ayn Rand automotan or cretin) read any one of these great citations, get brain chemicals (or whatever other ones you take) and by all means respond !!

Socialism is government determiniation and distribution (ownership) of profit. Profit, property (rights), and freedom must co-exist and belong to the individual. Lose one and you lose them all. Therefore, in the context of our times it is absurd to be concerned about business running amok while being oblivious to the outrageous overreach of go…[Read more]

How do you define socialism? If a government passes any rule that keeps big businesses from running amok, is that what you consider socialism? Have you ever thought that idealizing the market the way you do is just another form of extremism? It’s not perfect, you know. I’m not saying government is, either, of course.

That is incredible. Would like to see the bridges during the monsoon period to see how high above the river they are. Super clever!

“Call it democracy, or call it democratic socialism,” ML King said, “but there must be a better distribution of wealth within this country for all of God’s children.”

“A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have.” — Thomas Jefferson.
And they’ll do it under some variation on the sanctimonious “greater good” demagoguery. If government was able to stop all the evil in the world (or even the list you’ve provided), government would be God. -

Did you expect an essay as a response? I could go into more depth, however that isn’t required to make my point. Do you need statistics to reinforce my “platitudes”, because I am capable of reciting them for you.Truth is, I am not that smart. I have fed the beast for a majority of my life, and I am full of regret as a result. I have sup…[Read more]

1. Vectorworks and SketchUp
2. LA tools: creates a plant palette, creates plant schedule, and plants can be placed O.C. or in a mass; great for conceptual through final design
3. I’ve used Autocad since R12 and Microstation. Both didn’t have landscape tools. Vectorworks does think differently so there is a learning curve setting it up the way y…[Read more] -

Yes. “Simple” is, indeed, the word. Solutions are not arrived at by reciting platitude and concocting an enemy to rally against. It feels good though, I know. You seem smart. Focus that intelligence toward engineering cooperative incentive to alter the real and few instances of mass greed. Making an enemy has been done over and over and never suc…[Read more]

First of all that is impossible, and second, mockery is not flattering, nor does it contribute to the debate.

It is quite simple.
- To stop the disemboweling every last social service program funded by the taxpayers, from education to Social Security
- To stop letting the sick die.
- To stop letting the poor go hungry.
- To stop letting families be tossed in the street.
- To stop letting the unemployed rot.
- To stop children in the inner city or rural wastelands…
