I honestly think you don’t have to defend your need to make a living. People like to pontificate…but ultimately this is YOUR life.

They are great, but the thread is specifically about what is right for Leigha. Unless things at USC and her career path are not in sync with the majority of landscape architecture, she most likely will wind up buying a PC whether or not she starts by buying a MAC ….just like you had to do.

Andrew, I already pointed this out in a previous comment. Autocad for Macs is not complete and evolving. Give it time. Remember when Autocad was version 12 or 14 and Windows was 95? Its the first version, let them work out the kinks.
The funny part is I don’t even own a Mac right now. The one you saw at our studio in school was my first and only…[Read more] -

haha…oh man Mark. Yeah…that is crazy. I think that anything in government or in banking where they say they want to support small businesses is as political as the terms “green” or “sustainable”. I hate when politicians guess what we want as a small business owner… that are quick to turn down any sort of health care reform that could help us…[Read more]

Really, Jared? Are that close-minded? Apple is only second to ExxonMobil in total market value. Walmart, GM, Ford…below Apple. Mac is Apple and apparently the company doesn’t innovate? Okay…you win. In addition to market share $$, Apple also leads the way in Most Admired Company for 2011 and have always been in top 5. That’s 4 straight years…[Read more]

Autocad is not the same on a MAC, whether or not a MAC is a better operating system. How is LAnd FX working out for you MAC users? Is anyone using other add-ons to ACAD-MAC successfully? It seems that full Autocad has yet to come.

Anthony,
“That secret attitude” has also put Apple number one in world for overall market share. As of today, the figures between Apple and Microsoft in this link are wider. I stated earlier, don’t confuse Apple computer “the company” with the Mac “the computer” as most critics tend to do. PC advocates gather the entire industry against one…[Read more] -

Alex, whoa there fellow Mac enthusiast. Those comments were in response to Jared the subway spokesman. Look at where it is “placed.” This is one of the greatest problems with communicating by emails and posts. Things get out of whacked!

Heather,
“Small business loan” is like bigfoot– a lot of people believe it is real, but no one has seen it..Your best bet is to go with the financing offered by the manufacturer (if new), or take it out on a credit card. Good news–there are business credit cards with MUCH lower interest–still high but not outrageous.
A true story:

I seriously doubt the opinions of a “student” who calls himself a “landscape architect” and I believe it’s been debated in here already. What happened? You go from a Grad student to Landscape Architect overnight, huh?

I have gotten a couple of viruses, but I know how to deal with them. Mac’s don’t have as many viruses because there aren’t near the same amount of individuals using them. I don’t think that’s what he meant. The point is that those jobs are only there because we pay taxes. They’re not making anything, selling anything, etc. They’re just there. Don’t get me wrong, some of those jobs are absolutely necessary but the problem comes with how much those jobs cost the public at large and the fact that most, not all…[Read more]
