Many years ago I worked for a company that only used Microstation as our cad program. I used a third party add on called Triforma for Landscape Architecture. It was a great program. Lots of similarities in its ease of use like Land FX, however it had a site planning component that allowed such crazy things as placing parking spaces on a cu…[Read more]

Get to know the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s playground safety standards.http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/pubs/325.pdf
Safety is a HUGE factor when it comes to playground design. I doubt they’re going to ask you how well you know Autocad commands…it seems more likely that they’re going to want to see how well-versed you are in safety standards. -

I tend to cheat in these situations and make a block out of a single parking space line, then use the MEASURE or DIVIDE command, select the edge of pavement line, specify the block to use and the spacing being sure to align to the source object. Then just select the lines the command created and explode them to return them to the polylines they should be.

Does anyone have a LISP for putting parking spaces on a curve?

I don’t know if this will help you Jo-Anmarie but I thought I would pass it along. There is such a thing as a Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI). Who knew right?! A useful website for review materials could be this one: http://www.nrpa.org/Content.aspx?id=413 . It is the website for the National Recreation and Parks Asso…[Read more]

It does, found it today after a long time of seraching… very handy so far. I had a grading plan done by another firm that had no elevation information, so to manually go through and click every polyline and go to the properties dialogue was waaay too tedious. Found this one and it works great. I put an elevation on the first segment, and ch…[Read more]

This will match the Elevation, layer, color, Linetype, linetype scale, and lineweight of a selected Polyline to every Polyline in a selection set.

You do have a point Jason..I was shocked to find the Fresno has a plan for an aquarium, that thankfully has yet to get built – not even an aquarium of native species, a full-fledged aquarium, here in the central valley..seems stupid to m e..On the other hand, Charlottesvilles Main Street that was closed to cars in the seventies is extremely…[Read more]

I’d have to furvently disagree with your analysis. Rybczynski is referring to the “gimmick” planning that has been pervasive since the 1960’s. Sure, there are some examples of projects he stat…[Read more] -

Interesting points, Thomas..Forgot they know each other pretty well..
I agree about Wytold, though..His opinions seem so ridiculous, and completely indefensible, often – and ihis little essays, with their far-fetched analyzing, have absolutely no consequences.. Will this article influence anyone anywhere who has an opportunity to do an e…[Read more] -

1. Um, I believe that’s called “context”.
Would High Line be as successful in the middle of a desert with no people to visit it? No, probably not.
2. All significant public projects go over budget and beyond schedule… it’s the nature of the beast. I wish that wasn’t the case and I don’t support creating new taxes that hurt small business, but it…[Read more] -

Hi Maria
That MLA at Copenhagen looks good!
Would probably be looking at the Urban Design specialization but don’t want to be tied up in Copenhagen full time as I have a small business in the Netherlands- read somewhere that the course is made up of short intensive blocks of study- 2 x 6 weeks or so = 1 term? with lots of own study time in…[Read more] -

The point of my state, ment you quoted wasn’t to show that I have an ego to uphold, but just the opposite. It doesn’t particularly matter to me. The only thing I wouldn’t call myself is ‘Registered Landscape Architect’ because I am not.
I don’t really see a problem with the other ‘titles’ if you want to call them that–they’re really pretty…[Read more] - Load More
