Since when did design/build become another field? -

Boy, a lot of the responses on here make me truly sad for some people’s view of the profession. I truly hope this forum is like most internet forums, where disgruntled/disenchanted people come to rant about their misfortunes; and not a realistic cross-section of our industry.

The ones I have seen most often are steam heated by a garbage burner or coal plant.

We have a fair number. Private and public facilities (i.e. our new convention center in Anchorage). They have also heated street sections and intersection crossings. There are some issues… but that’s probably another topic stream.

Mike G – Yeah, I noticed that you have extensive forestry experience. I don’t doubt your knowledge for a second and I think forestry people are some of the neatest people around.
I think the common flaw in attempts at urban forestry is government involvement. When the government runs an operation from the ground-up there is no room for profit and…[Read more] -

I am beginning to wonder if people posting have ever worked in other fields like retail or even design/build. Employer abuse is prevelant everywhere. Without a collective voice, employees have no leverage and no say in the enterprise. I know many people will say, it’s my company why should the employees get a say at how I run it? Well they have a…[Read more]

I find it so sad that people have bought this propaganda hook, line and sinker. Why is management never blamed for pumping millions into bad ideas and walking away with their share and then coming back and saying…well we had some bad ideas and now have to take it out of your salary.
Some info from Think Progress.com

ya, I have to agree with the previous comments. 3D stuff works well in school with presentations etc. and can give you that edge you seek. Sketch-up combined with photoshop always worked well for me. I would recommend spending alot of time with Photoshop, Illustrator, and AutoCad combinations. Most firms won’t have 3D programs, but you can create…[Read more]

It was helpful but really expensive. They give you the grading criteria which I found helpful.

Hi Hagen,
I had spoken to Sadik about doing a LARE review here in Houston sometime this spring. I am an officer for TX ASLA- Houston/Gulf Coast, so i’ll be sending out an email blast to our members to see if there’s enough interest and a large enough group to pay for Sadik to come. I’ll keep you posted! You’re welcome to join us! -

I took the test in June, and then took the redline review offered in October. I think the comments on my redline do match the quote from clarb; there were indeed both positive and negative comments. But i wasn’t really interested in the positive comments….if i failed, i really only want to know what i did wrong, not what i did right. My beef,…[Read more]

Young Professionals 15 years, 3 months agoim going to try to keep my posted discussions and stuff free of negativity. but this will be very much like the movie bambie and its choice to forgo the description of the man in the forest field dressing bambie’s dad or mom or whichever one it was… anyways what im getting at is it may contribute to a certain and unmistakable lack of realism.…[Read more]

Did you use the redline review in June? Did you find it helpful? Please read the quote below from the CLARB website.
