It’s been out there for a few months. I spoke to some ex coworkers over x-mas break and the offer was there for me to work over the holidays if I wanted to. I declined because the office is way too far away from my home, and I didn’t feel like trying to come up with accommodations for such a short amount of time.
And yes I am going to be con…[Read more] -

Please. You don’t know who my employers are, what they have told me, where my skills fit in to the equation, and you have obviously been selectively reading snippets of this thread (or you have chosen to only comment on the negatives).
For some reason you are under the impression that I would tell the company I don’t like their work? For so…[Read more] -

Who are you to tell me what I should and should not show on here? Land8 is many things besides simply a “portfolio extension”, and if some people choose to show their work than that is great. You need to respect others who do not wish to show their work.

Actually, I disagree. Land8 is not facebook, it is an opportunity to show something about yourself outside your actual portfolio. Treat it as an extension of your resume/portfolio and get over the private information. Nobody on here has any idea what your skill levels are (I tried to look) because they have to be your friends first. I don…[Read more]

My feeling is that you need experience, and to get over yourself. I don’t mean to be harsh, but why on earth would a company hire you if you tell them that you don’t appreciate and admire their work and would require not to do it OR get more money just to grace them with your presence? If you don’t want to work there, work somewhere else. If yo…[Read more]

SketchUp 15 years, 4 months agoDoes the area obstructed show up in the image after capturing? I have had it look like it was clipped, and then after saving the view for the animation it worked.

SketchUp 15 years, 4 months agoEric, I’ll try and help but I need some more info. It might be that you’re experiencing a known “clipping” problem. That usually occurs when your model is located really far from the origin. Is that the case? Does the problem occur in all the time, or just in certain scenes? Could you repost the image from a different vantage point with the axis…[Read more]

Security Site Design should have some serious traction in this economy / political climate and in the years to come. It also seems well aligned with my areas of interest; hardscape, grading, engineering, mechanical design, spiky plants and general trickery.
Thank you for the fresh perspective Trace and Henry… I’ll have to look into this career path… -

Wags, using an application like Vectorworks Landmark with Renderworks would enable you to work both in 2D and 3D at the same time, while using smart objects that know what they are and budget pricing can be included in what they know about themselves, so that as you compile your design, you can see your ideas come to life, analyze for sun/shade,…[Read more]

How long has this “offer ” been out thre? I have worked in a number of oranizations ad things change quickly. I would get back to them , express your interest and ask for the details. My experience has been that most companies will offer a salary number if you ask them. A HR manager will probably be better at negotiaing skills than a design…[Read more]

Hey Wags, I think that the Viz Terra looks good as far as a render, but I cannont speak to the usability since I have not used it before. I have done great looking renderings in SketchUP using some Plug ins that you can get which are free and very easy to use. I would recommend INDIGO RENDERER. Very easy to use and produces wonderful visualizations.

Sean, Thank you for the reply. I was hoping you were going yo say that. I also like the subscription payout. I saw your page and really like what you did. It sounds like you really get the design/build world. What is your normal sized job price range and what is the upper end of jobs you have sold using vizterra??
