Filmtastic Fridays: Australia Announces Its First Festival of Landscape Architecture

Early this month, the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA) unveiled the much-anticipated program for its first-of-its-kind Forecast Festival of Landscape Architecture. The event, which will be held between October 16 and 18 in Brisbane, will fill the city’s cultural hub with stunning landscape designs and innovative materials. To offer a peek into the program launch, the AILA teamed up with Blueroom Productions to produce a short teaser for Forecast Festival 2014.

Inspired by last year’s dazzling success of the Trailfinders Australian Garden exhibit which won the prestigious Chelsea Flower Show, AILA is set to encourage the conversation between local and international specialists. The festival will feature fringe activities, workshops, open talks, education and research summit as well as host the National Landscape Architecture Awards and a national conference. Forecast is designed to inspire and engage by re-imagining the way we meet and celebrate the profession, share our stories and learn through discourse and debate,” said the Creative Directors.

One of the main goals of the Festival of Landscape Architecture is to provide the perfect medium for professionals to exchange ideas, share experiences and encourage each other to push the boundaries. With some of the metropolitan cities like Sydney announcing a new green roofs and walls policy and the Australian Green Star building rating system set to lower the country’s carbon footprint and improve working environment in big offices, collaboration between landscape architects across the continent is more important than ever.
