“Politicians are like diapers. They both need changing regularly and for the same reason.’ -Mark Twain.

My guess is that these quotes will still ring true for the next hundred or so years too.

Andrew that is kind of what I am saying. People keep saying Obama is this crazy liberal stifling business but even when he could have completely run over the opposition he didn’t. This is irritating to liberals that voted him in! Democrats won huge in 2010 and there was an expectation they would do BIG things. Instead, we voted in a moderate Republican…who seems more intent on meeting the republicans on their turf then staking out his own positions. He has had to be careful to appear moderate since he is always painted as EXTREME. I especially love the comments that he forced Health Care Reform despite the fact he ran on that and then was voted in to do just that.

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about one of the Simpsons Halloween episodes, where two hideous space aliens disguise themselves as the main presidential candidates during an election (this was aired when Bill Clinton was running against Bob Dole). Eventually, the masks were torn off, and everyone was horrified to see that both candidates were evil aliens, but there was nothing they could do about it. It’s a two party system.
That’s the way I feel now. Should I vote for the Democrat who can’t seem to stand up to Republicans or one of the right-wing extremist republicans (the only difference among them seems to be how many children they have).

ha, I know that episode – good social commentary..How about the one with Obama and McCain, where they turn into mob-types, once they have taken the whitehouse, and make off with the loot..

I haven’t seen that one, but I haven’t been keeping up with that show. I’ll have to find a way to watch the last several halloween episodes.

I am actually glad…my health insurance now covers preventative. We are self employed and have to buy our own. I would question whether your health insurance truly went up to due to Obama policies…I am sure we could “link” each other over the head. Additionally, they can’t deny health coverage due to pre-existing conditions. If they are telling you that…they are wrong. I often have people unhappy with Obama complain about their health insurance…he didn’t make it difficult it IS difficult. It is expensive, people have been dropped and left to die without necessary life saving treatments. The people that complain seem to be insinuating he didn’t do enough. AMEN. He couldn’t. Do you think the GOP was going to help you with your rising health care costs?

actually , I put less than zero faith in any politician for any reason…

to inform you of  the fact that my last increase of 15% was because the ‘New” requirement by the govt. …. the new policy mandated by Obamacare is that there is no longer a limit on my benefits….so there!..now I get to pay more even though I do not want the extended coverage…

and yes, they deny coverage all the time….by quoting premiums of $1200.  a month.

I’m self employed too. My deductable is $5,000.00 for now and I still get to pay $360. a month. And I have no health issues. Haven’t filed a claim in over ten years or longer…….

I’m glad you are so happy with yours

I am not “happy” but you mean to say your premiums never went up before health care reforms? They only started after? Because I doubt it. My deductible is $7,500…so pretty much catastrophic. Guess what…thats life. I doubt your premium would be less…but now you have a scapegoat…with “Obamacare”. I am sure the insurance company were the ones to inform you whose fault it is…because they definitely wouldn’t raise premiums to raise their own profits.

They seem to be doing fine. I know that you have your own thoughts on this and I mine. That is okay. I wish we had a single payer system like other countries…but I will just have to keep dreaming.

Nice post Todd. I’m so sick of hearing about the left, right, red, blue… The last thing we need right now is more divisiveness. Why can’t we just come together as Americans and save ourselves? It’s time for a real change. How about change that makes our leaders in government and industry accountable for their actions? It’s crazy how the working class in this country can’t seem to recognize who the real bad guys are.

We can’t continue with the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer. Eventually we’ll wise up and realize that it’s not about race, religion or politics. It’s about being fair and putting people who want to work back to work in decent jobs.
