Practicing in Central or South America

Does anyone have any experience or insight into practicing in Central or South America? I would really like to explore any options, but don’t know where to begin. I’m guessing that most jobs would exist in larger, more developed cities (Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Sao Paolo, etc).

It’s cool to see the perspectives on this site about the Middle East and Southeast Asia, and I was hoping I’d find some stuff on Latin America too. Any suggestions would be appreciated… Professional associations, specific firms, government programs, lawn-mowing services, etc. 🙂
