Founded in 1999, 3North is an award-winning design practice with studios in Richmond, Virginia and San Francisco, California. Though we’ve refined our design philosophy over the years, our guiding objective has remained the same: to deliver design solutions that inspire and ultimately improve the lives of the people who engage with them — whether that’s a thoughtful renovation to a historic home or a master plan for a mixed-use development. In an era of increasing specialization, we remain steadfast in our commitment to service our clients through a comprehensive, unified design approach. It is through this collaborative process that we realize our clients’ visions and create buildings and landscapes that possess an enduring spirit of place.

Though we could go on and on about our design philosophy, it’s best summed up in a recent award we received: the 2019 T. David Fitz-Gibbon Firm Award. It’s the highest honor bestowed by AIA Virginia and recognizes a firm that has consistently produced distinguished architecture for at least 10 years.
