Yes, I agree with Mike on the Grevillea sp. re Navid’s post. The flower gives it away. (I’m also from Australia, so I’m familliar with the genus, although I’m not sure on the species of this one. Perhaps Grevillea ‘Long John’.)

Hi everyone! I have worked in Cairo on a collaborative project with Ain Shams University architecture students. It was an amazing experience and I would love to go back…maybe someday! I am glad to have found this room so I can see all the wonderful projects you are all working on in that part of the world.

Fibonacci again? Does anyone know this plant? Found in San Diego at 5000 ft. elevation.

Name that plant.
Looks like a pine tree from a distance with a flower that is reminiscent of a succulent. I think it’s a desert plant.

Here is my 2centavos worth…
As a former educator: I see any LA curriculum to be a foundation of sorts to an any budding landscape architect. We can teach the person in theory how do things, and be responsible for things (stewards of the environment, etc..), but in the end, it is through that budding landscape architect’s own free will what…[Read more]

Totally agree with boss Leo …
A lot of non-LA’s might think that they can do landscape design well in fact much of the things that they come up with is merely ‘land-escaping’ or “pseudo-landscape design”. I believe that the UP LArch Program made us understand (and sometimes forcibly hehe) the science behind what we are doing now and that most of…[Read more] -

Note: Buildings are “certified”, people are “accredited” – a possible question on the test according to a USGBC study group I went to. I am taking the test in December.

It may be a small percentage of our current professional knowhow, but lessons learned in college were definitely the building blocks of my career.
I always go back to the basics: style design principles, bubbles and methodologies, in every design problem on hand. Design considerations change along with trends in aesthetics, amenities and…[Read more]
