LARE Multiple Choice Discussion 8 years, 9 months agoIn contrast to other comments I thought Hinze was a great resource and covered MOST of what was on exam 1. Just be prepared to google search the topics you don’t fully understand. There is also a list of vocab words out there on the internet to familiarize yourself with. I have one exam left to go but I wish the process was transparent and th…[Read more]

LARE Multiple Choice Discussion 8 years, 9 months agoVery important CLARB has posted, without announcing it, a 2nd revision to the new orientation guide for the LARE that goes back to 120 questions. It’s now 105 questions that count plus 15 Experimental questions (unidentified in the exam) that DO NOT count. That is close to 15% of the exam, making it an unprecedented amount of non-point earn…[Read more]

LARE Multiple Choice Discussion 9 years, 10 months agoWould you say all 4 books CLARB has listed for section 1 are important to cover? I understand perhaps not in their entirety.

Hinze will not begin to cover all of Section 1. It just deals with Construction Contracts and Construction Law. -

LARE Multiple Choice Discussion 9 years, 11 months agoHi, I’m preparing to take the LARE Sections 1 & 4 in April. Should Construction Contracts by Hinze cover section 1 fairly well? Also can someone please tell me the best resource to learn when webinars or classes in the NY metropolitan area are being offered to prepare for the exams? I appreciate any help I can get. Thanks, Josephine

Portfolios and Resumes – Design Strategies 12 years, 8 months agoIf possible Luke, I would recommend travel sketches over travel photography. I find sketching to be a more sought after, rare skill. Furthermore, sketches reveal more about what you are looking at and how you interpret a scene. I’ve brought personal sketchbooks to interviews that demonstrate the range of activities I do, where I’ve been, and my…[Read more]

Portfolios and Resumes – Design Strategies 13 years agoKai, I would say keep it to one page. That is what I always try to do. Cutting out something less important every time I have something to add to it. Although if you feel you have enough pertinent material to add, do so. But definitely no longer than 2 pages. I personally like the one pager.
Might take a while, all I can say is stick with it if…[Read more]
