  • The Washington Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (WASLA) just hosted Ray a couple of weeks ago here in Seattle. He taught his 3-day seminar on Section E. We had a full room and the comments coming in from those who participated have been very good. Everybody commenting said it was very much worth while and well worth the time…[Read more]

  • Hello! the ASLA CA Sierra Chapter is offering LARE Review Sessions for the upcoming section C & E exams. The classes will be held on Saturday, May 8th from 9am-3pm at UC Davis. • Hey, anyone interested in forming study groups for Section E. I’ve taken the exam last year and didn’t pass, duhh. so I’m looking for study partners who can put the time to work on vignettes, go over them together on-line or on skype, etc….

  • Just contacted CLARB and scores will be sometime between Wed. and Fri. this week.

  • It is unbelievable how delinquent CLARB is in posting scores. It has been over 5 weeks since I have taken my computer based exam Sec D. . .still waiting. I don’t understand how College Board can return results from an SAT exam, taken by millions of high school students across the country in only two weeks!

  • Anyone else getting really anxious for the latest results?

  • You’ll get the most out of any prep course (especially Section E) if you work on practice vignettes for at least a couple of weeks prior to the class. Otherwise it can be very discouraging for someone who had been out of school for years and doesn’t work on grading plans on the job.

Also, prep classes are usually full, and there’s usually only…[Read more]

Yes, I plan on taking a prep course…thank you for all the info!

  • There are also Prep Courses at UCLA Extension. So you can get your classes without too much travel cost. I will post those dates later today.
The site http://www.asla.org, under Education is LARE Prep. There are brand new vignettes posted that you can use to practice. These were prepare by CLARB’s test provider for ASLA to provide to candidates.

    I agree…[Read more]

    Katrina,

My reviews in the SF Bay Area are not inexpensive, but you get a very intensive introduction to what the performance sections are about, and lots of practice and feedback opportunities.

E-mail me and I’ll send you a PDF brochure. Rayfreeman3@comcast.net

Most people are more comfortable starting with Section C and saving E for…[Read more]

ok…signed up for my first test. Any study groups for Section C-site design in Los Angeles? I need to START NOW because frankly you guys are scaring the bezesus out of me:)

  • I agree, if you can avoid taking C and E at the same time you may have better luck. It is a TON of information and you can easily get confused or worse: exhausted! That’s not saying it isn’t possilbe, it is just a lot more difficult. C isn’t too bad, but section E is notorious for being a multi-round test! If you can find a review course in your…[Read more]

  • I wouldn’t take c and e at the same time either. I took c twice and passed the second time. Just failed e for the first time after studying like crazy. Just signed up for June…we shall see

    Wendy, which workshop was it?

Honestly I wouldn’t try to take them both at once….study your fanny off for one or the other, pass it, and then take the other in December. I thought site design was a lot easier; I took a weekend workshop that gave me good insights into CLARB world (it’s not about beautiful design!). Work out your shortcuts on parking and bus turnarounds…[Read more]

  • Any advice for taking both C and E this June? I cannot afford to take this more than once so any advice / tips to pass are greatly appreciated!!

The “felt” fabric. Blanc’s installations has two layers of fabric that he drips his water/fertilizer solution through. This is a non-soil installation. The plants root into the fabric and fed by the solution.
