Just a general recommendation… it is best to ask your questions in the group forum rather than in the comment box.

If you haven’t read Daniel’s book, it is THE place to learn. Other sources will help you learn the basics of SketchUp, but this book demonstrates the techniques and workflow that LA’s can use. Thanks for writing it Daniel!

Great idea starting this group!
I’ve read Daniel Tal’s book, and it is very helpful in breaking down the process of creating efficient 3D models. This group should be a good place to share ideas and learn new tips. -

Daniel – Thanks for inviting me. I am an avid user of SketchUp. I have learned quite a bit from your You Tube demonstrations. I have not bought your book yet, but I think I am on my way of making SketchUp work for site design.

Hi All,
Thanks for inviting me to be part of this Group. I run a similar Group on http://www.landscapejuicenetwork.com over in the UK and return the invite to you all if you want to join us too (we have about 31 members at the moment).
I received Dabiel’s book as an xmas present but must admit that I have not gotten to reading it yet.

Yes, the meeting went great! Stacy summed it up pretty good. It was fantastic to have Dominique come in and talk with us about her experiences using SSI on a project. From our discussions, we know there are a lot of kinks in SSI (as one would expect) but my feeling from her was that the document works well in establishing that necessary baseline…[Read more]

I thought it was great – especially Dominique’s experience with SSI for Lenexa City Center project. Several of the pre-requisites were un-achievable on that one. Those points were very worthy, highlighted the critical importance of proper site selction and deemed certainly worth keeping central in the SSI focus, but totally screwd the pooch (so to…[Read more]

I’m glad to see someone else interested in SSI! I’m working on a children’s garden project for the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. We’re designing the project to the preliminary draft SSI credits in hopes to create a sustainable landscape project, test the credits and criteria and eventually hopefully become a pilot project.

Best case situation, buy a blade server and kick your rendering jobs out to it. However, I would have to say that some of the best environs that come out of 3ds start as basic spatial models and are brought to life in post production. Animations are important to get right solely in the program and demand real power. You better have 2 computers or…[Read more]

I know of network rending, and have a vauge idea of how to do it, but I have yet to actually try it out. I’m currently running a laptop with 2G ram, 256Meg GeForce6800 Go Graphics Card, and a 2.17 Pentium Centrino. It isn’t fast, but it gets the job done. The dream rig I was planning before my Fiance’ got laid off was a Intel I7 processor, 32 Gig…[Read more]

I thought this might be helpful for people learning. It is 26 lessons on how to do arch/la visualisation. It looks really good, and goes through the whole process.
