LA NYC 13 years, 10 months agoWhat is LAbash?
LAbash (landscape architecture bash) is a student run conference that serves as a platform for students from various universities to converge, exchange ideas and celebrate their passion for landscape architecture.

SketchUp 14 years, 2 months ago@Chris. The guide from mr. Haskin is terrific. Thanks a lot for sharing this, very useful. I was wondering how to get this effect for quite a long time, since I am autodidactic. Appreciate it.

SketchUp 14 years, 2 months agoHi Daniel!
I became a promember of Land8 and I´m seeing some of Daniel Tal´s webinars on Sketchup. They are really easy to follow and very useful. There are also some photoshop webinar recordings but I haven´t been able to see those yet.
Hope this helps! -

SketchUp 14 years, 2 months agoHey There,
I have spent the last 3 years in a technical project management position and have become a bit rusty in the are of computer graphics using Sketchup and Photoshop in combination with each other. Obviously, this is such an integral part of practicing our profession these days so I want to get better at this.
I live in the Portland, O…[Read more] -

Planning Profession and Landscape Architecture 14 years, 2 months agoJMW,
Many LA’s practice planning as a portion of their work. However, I hear much less of any public sector planners who also practice Landscape Architecture. I don’t have enough experience to consider my opinion credible as to why that seems to be the case, but I believe the understanding of “high design” as opposed to “conforming with the…[Read more] -

SketchUp 14 years, 2 months agoI had problems the whole time I was in school with my desktop crashing because my video card didn’t have enough umph. What solved the problem was more memory in the video card itself. You can also check the auto-cad sight to make sure any card you are thinking of getting is ok with auto-cad. The laptop I bought when I graduated is a 64-bit with a…[Read more]

SketchUp 14 years, 2 months agoI can attest to newer Geforce cards. I have a 470 from last year, and it runs like a champ. MIGHT end up going to a dual card setup, but that’s caused more by “Battlefield 3” than work…

SketchUp 14 years, 2 months agoCan anyone recommend me a video card to be able to work on Sketch up, photoshop, illustrator and CAD? I am getting a new computer and wanted to see the minimum requirements I should have to support all those software.
Thank you

Habitat Restoration and Mitigation 14 years, 2 months agoTanya, thanks for the advice. My first option would be to get professional experience in restoration design before I go back to school and I’m very much looking into that but also looking to keep my options open. Also, thanks for the advice about the portfolio, that’s something that I’m aware of but it slipped my mind at the time. Changing now, thanks!

Habitat Restoration and Mitigation 14 years, 2 months agoHey Charles – rather than spending more $$$ you might try an internship with someplace like Barr Engineering in Minneapolis – they have a lengthy restroration portfolio. If you want hands-on experience you might call them to ask who does the installation of their projects. Ann Riley’s Waterways Restoration Institute in Berkley, CA might be a g…[Read more]

Planning Profession and Landscape Architecture 14 years, 3 months agoHello!
Just wanted to see how many planners-turned-LAs there are. I know there is a significant amount of shared history and values, but the technical skill set of LAs set them apart. I’m considering doing the switch myself, and plan on slowly picking up the skills part-time. Are there many who have done this? Any advice?
