Polscy Architekci Krajobrazu (Polish Landscape Architects) 16 years agoTo nie do mnie pytanie, bo nie jestem ani starsza wiekiem ani stażem, ale szczerze mówiąc, rozśmieszył mnie pomysł ze wzorem 🙂 Byłoby pięknie, gdybyśmy mogli “brać” tyle ile z takiego wzoru by wyszło.

I do quite a bit of planting design for contractors, and Land F/X is simply awesome. It works seamlessly w/AutoCAD.

Jessi, I think this is a great discussion! I have been traveling through Latin America since June. Although most of the time I was just traveling and learning about new cultures, I also had the chance to do a good amount of volunteer work, teach, and also improve my Spanish quite a bit. For me, it has actually been a pretty amazing year!

Rhino. Maya is a great program but the learning curve is fairly steep.

I’m now on my own, after working for small firms for years. I’m well versed in AutoCAD, but think it is WAY too cumbersome for the needs of an LA. I’m switching (& very seamlessly, I might add) to VectorWorks. It has all of the tools, but not too many of the extras we won’t ever use. It also has a great setup for material quans/pricelists, plant &…[Read more]

3ds max + landscape architecture 16 years agoI believe it is a Nvidia 280 GTM, middle of the range but still better than the one on my old computer that ran max 2010 quite well. i7, 8 gigs of ram. Having some photoshop problems too. pretty much everything is frames per second related, it makes zooming and moving things around so hard.

I have learned a dozen beatles songs on the guitar, sketched, slept till 8am everyday, exercised, read, have become the domestic servant (i am tired of dishes), visited family, and continue to pound the job search daily.

I’ll start the ball rolling:
Since being unemployed, I’ve found profound fulfillment in my volunteer work that I’ve done at a nursing home while also taking the time to learn how to weld, which is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. I’ve also learned how to crochet, make lace, bake, cook, and have reorganized my pathetic little apartment…[Read more]

looked it up – I stand corrected – it is the height at which a building permit is required, that I am think ing of, Jim..which of course, residential builders don’t want to get permits, so avoid higher retaining walls..
You right, I stand corrected.. -

I don’t think anything you are saying is untrue. I definitely agree that we can move any project toward our values. I also believe that we can affect projects that are in greater need of such movement if we are willing to work on them. They may still not come close to being model projects, but they were going to get built either way and are much…[Read more]

I love this field. They’re going to have to drag me out feet first because I’m never leaving. Will I ever have to do a different job? Maybe. But I will never not consider myself a landscape architect. I just so happens that I graduated with my MLA at the tail end of the last (smaller) recession. It took a year to find a job, but it was a great job…[Read more]

The original poster’s timeline of three years is pretty good. The economy (if the gov’t quits messing with it) should recover on it’s own by then. It won’t ever be as mad as it was pre-crash, but it WILL get better. In the mean time, there will be plenty of retirements, and many who will leave the field or schooling for it, allowing for the…[Read more]

It is not polarizing. Everyone always jumps to the conclusion that if you don’t make these things your number one priority, you are completely devoid of any of these values which is not the case at all. These are weighted values in every project. Some people do are philosophically predisposed to have an inability to adjust to the weighted values…[Read more]
