Fun topic! I can only think of atrocious ones – a new one at the Hotel Del in Coronado, unbelievable missed opportunity to do something great, and they just did same old same old..
I thnk Paley Park in Manhattan is probably my favorite small gardens – great design..For edgy, Martha Schwartz’s Whitehouse Insititute, or something like that, and the…[Read more] -

Have you read “Tending the Wild” by M. Kat Anderson? Excellent book on how Native Americans lived in California for 10,000 years…also you may wish to read works by Alrie Middlebrook and Judith Larner Lowry.

Get in touch with Gary Martin who lives in Marrakesh. He’s been doing really interesting ethnobotany work there for years.
http://ucjeps.berkeley.edu/Endangered_Lang_Conf/Martin.htmlI’m also thinking of the National Botanical Garden, Limahuli Garden and Preserve, located on Kauai. It is an ethnobotanic garden. The director is Kawika Winter.…[Read more]

The Sustainable Sites Initiative 16 years, 7 months agoYes, the meeting went great! Stacy summed it up pretty good. It was fantastic to have Dominique come in and talk with us about her experiences using SSI on a project. From our discussions, we know there are a lot of kinks in SSI (as one would expect) but my feeling from her was that the document works well in establishing that necessary baseline…[Read more]

I’m loving the inventiveness the ‘landscape urbanism’ movement is bringing to the english language.
I would also add:
water feature= fountain (depending on who you ask of course. Andrew might say ‘retention pond’ lol)
juxtaposition= what I did has nothing to do with the stuff around it. -
