You can check people’s profiles for more, but I’m in North Carolina. Good luck with the idea. It has a lot of realms to explore. I can’t find something I read recently about these but maybe the link below will help on the ancient towers. They have found a metal box somewhere with a depiction of such a tower with birds on the top that helped…[Read more]

Read all this on the Guardian, Henry..Always am confused by Naomi Wolfe vs. Naomi Klein, who is I think The Shock Doctrine?
Anyway, good stuff! I have been thinking how amazing it is that the fascist state apparatus that resulted from the 9/11 attack under George Bush has so quickly morphed into exactly what we leftists feared..So quickly!!!!

I’ve been messing around with various render programs and there seems to be quite a bit that all vary in price and quality of the output. I’ve kind of had to learn it on the fly as I finish my MLA but so far i’ve been using SU Podium and am pretty happy with the results. The learning curve isn’t too bad and there are a ton of tutorials and g…[Read more]

Rhino is easy to learn, is nurbs-based allowing more rigorous free form modeling, and with V-Ray or Maxwell can provide a solid base rendering for photoshop. 3dsMax also has nice output.
In general, the model is useful as a base for digital renderings. Rigorous use of adobe suite can save time and effort as getting great results from render en…[Read more] -

Good choice, Roland, I saw Moyers make this speech earlier – he seems to be, unfortunately, irreplaceable..thanks for the clip.

I would in the very least take C since it is the easier of the two. You will save some money over waiting until the format starts. If you have time to study take them both and hope that you pass, you never know. The biggest problem in waiting is that you don’t know how the new format will look and right now there is an endless supply of study…[Read more]

As I was thinking more about this and how the “process” and the “memorialization” are completely split in the developed world, I doubt it is altogether culture and religion, although burials are more accepted than the dead exposed to birds on towers… One side of it is the issue of familiarity to the European west (I think even the waiting for…[Read more]

I was wowed by this when I first saw it…think it was when I was in school: http://www.greatbuildings.com/buildings/Brion-Vega_Cemetery.html
Not a crematorial place, but I love the way it integrates the landscape.

Sketchup has many great rendering plugins that are relatively cheap with a medium learning curve. I checked out the availible options at a site called sketchUcation to see what is best for my needs and I love what I got. I would suggest a program that runs inside sketchup because you can easily use your SU textures to render with. I bought…[Read more]

I’m in the same boat (except taking both C and E next week…) and from my understanding you’ll essentially lose your D if you don’t pass either C or E before the new style is introduced.
Refer to this: https://www.clarb.org/Candidates/Documents/LARE-transition-chart-wi…
Section A will directly become Section 1, B will become 2 and C,D, a…[Read more] -

ok…lets try that again,
I was noticing that the LARE format is changing to a 4 multiple choice test format. I’ve already passed sections A,B, and D. But I was wondering if it would be worth my time to try for the June C and E administration of the test, or cut my losses with section D and wait for sections 3 and 4.
Thanks! -

There are some churches that have “memorial gardens”, scatter gardens, or niche walls(columbariums). You can also see these things at traditional cemeteries. Owners of these facilities tend to be non-profit organizations. Near me there is the Veterans Admin. cemetery owned by the gov. for military veterans, there is a local evangelical church that…[Read more]
