Here’s what some Brit architects have had to say about it:
http://www.architectsjournal.co.uk/8618373.article
I think its interesting that the idea that it is a problem of the disadvantaged and poor is assumed by all of them. Its “those people” that are doing the rioting. The architects that present themselves as more socially progressive tend t…[Read more] -

Hi Heather
If you get a chance, check out the Don Valley Brickworks by Evergreen. Not only are there some great design elements (including an area by Claude Cormier), but there is one of the best farmer’s markets in the city held there every Saturday. There is also a [work-in-progress] outdoor children’s play area with many interactive features. -

He should’ve looked into the situation a little more before co-opting the events to serve his personal beliefs and prejudices. He only had to wait a day more for his OWN PAPER! -

Hayes Valley and the Presidio also! Too many great things to see–all outside. In the Presidio there are two Andy Goldsorthy installations, one is ‘spire’ and the other just completed ‘wood line’ plus there is an Andy Goldwrothy scupture in from to the De young called ‘crack’the new disney museum, ILM Lucas Film–and the beautiful Legion of H…[Read more]

OK, what about the evidence that “entitlement” programs (wow, I hate using that term in a pejorative sense, the way Repubs do) have caused a decline in African American families headed by two parents. I recall reading that the number was much higher before the ’60s. Of course, a whole host of social factors have combined to reduce the overall r…[Read more]

Seriously Jason, turn off Fox News. There have been no riots in Wisconsin come even close to fitting your “pattern”.
I’m also a bit confused by the original post: Sure, if you were to relocate people with few prospects for jobs or future prosperity from dense urban cores to the suburbs, that would indeed reduce the prospects of riots similar t…[Read more] -

Hey Andrew. Welcome to the Bay Area!
The Academy of Science and other points in Golden Gate Park , The Castro, The Presidio and catch a Giants game at AT&T park. Pier 39 is a tourist trap, but you can jog from Levi Plaza along the piers through Marina Green to the Golden Gate in 6 miles and take in quite a bit. You can take a taxi back if yo…[Read more] -

I didn’t know being a single mother was being promoted? haha. That is a desirable state? Nothing I was taught despite being raised by single women. Being a mother is hard work, mentally draining! I can’t imagine living in poverty as a single mother. Uff da!
I also see reference to a “weak police force”…we still have these problems in our country…[Read more] -

Cover page: clean layout but a missed opportunity to immediately showcase your skills. Consider some of your images as a semi-transparent background, or a small thumbnail strategically placed. Re-format the cover to landscape orientation so…[Read more] -

Craig, read the link Jason posted. “Blame single mothers’ is the meme, and this is an argument that is always associated with racism. There is social context to one’s opinions, and if one wants to pal around with racist views, geuss what you end up with? Or perhaps it is just as ok to pretend that it is only ‘single mothers’ that ‘really con…[Read more]

I think you should be kicked off for posting that disgusting racist claptrap, that is always associated with racist attitudes – who are you kidding, and hiding behind? I will erase that comment but you should erase that link – it is traditional republican racist opinion, and to pretend you are ‘independent’ from that argument is denying the re…[Read more]

I agree…the ones that are working hard are not the ones that make it on the evening news. Those that make it out are facing amazing odds. I am only whereI am because I left my birth mother at age 9. I agree Craig. I do think there is bit of a swing back to what we would call more traditional families. I know many families that scrimp and barely get by in order to have one parent stay home with their children. I think our most important job is to care for our children and that means the decisions we make generally revolve around what will not…[Read more]

Freshbooks might be one of the few systems out there. It’s a tool for project management with billing functionality. I haven’t tried it though but seems a great tool. I think freshbooks has the best invoicing feature for a project management tool.

As a conservative then you should realize that all this talk about creating family cohesiveness…blah, blah, blah is useless. What do you suggest? That the government DO something? You know what we do in the US? We put them in jail. Pretty expensive solution but one that conservatives heartily approve of. Rather then deal with the issues that…[Read more]

Was wondering about this today, I am in search for work myself. The only reference I have is the BLS. they are projecting a growth of 24% by 2018. This is good news but what is it based on. Are they factoring the current market situation, the date of the study was last year so I am ASSUMING that it is based on pre recession numbers?????
