I agree…I think concrete is probably the way to go. Or wood edging.

Because children don’t use playgrounds for what they are planned for. As a previous poster mentioned…children don’t simply use the equipment in the traditional sense. Go to a park and watch children play…often times you will see them playing with wood chips(which aren’t the main deal!)…throwing them in the air or at each other, sliding them…[Read more]

Hey Erin,
I had photoshop at work and elements at home and I really didn’t mind the differences because I wasn’t trying to use photoshops for it’s full effects. What did bother me was working with the layers on elements, always had a problem with that…

Thanks, That article also provided a link to download a trial version of elements. This might be the best way to try it out and see what I miss.
Thanks again. -

Here’s a link listing the differences between the two programs. It’s up to you to decide whether the missing features would affect your workflow. For me, the lack of quickmasks, adjustment layers, and recordable custom actions is a serious dealbreaker. -

Yes…but doesn’t everything depend on maintenance, including shrubs and trees? A shovel cut edge looks like the wild forest after time without proper maintenance too. This thread is on edging for playgrounds, not the philosophy of playground design and play structures. Maybe because I almost never designed any projects in these frost environments…[Read more]

Pakistan wanted him and kept him in that luxury estate. Not the living in a cave we thought of the last 10 years. I think there’s a lot more people out there who follow him than you think.

It was a joke. Prices will continue to increase because Oil companies are loving the amount of profit. After Libya, then what? Throw billions of $$$ at Iran, Yemen, Omar? Sudan, Niger and many other places also have ruthless dictators. When is it enough already?

Easy fella…I guess I haven’t updated my profile in a while. I do have 9 + years of design build experience before and after school and my suggestion to watch the plastic edging is based on that very practical experience and design. I can say that I have installed and removed thousands of feet of these edges personally. You are correct g…[Read more]

I agree (this is a first!) with Andrew G., I thought DNA testing took weeks, and David, it was only in accordance with muslim law in that it was done within 24 hours – the sea burial has nothing to do with Islam at all..they are pissed off..
why not cremate him and scatter the ashes, as they apparently did for Nuremburg war criminals..
itis just…[Read more] -

I did not realize that DNA testing could be done so quickly. I thought it took weeks for some reason.

A memorial would be for someone to pay respect to the person buried there, to commemorate or honor them.
No one wanted his body! Not a single country. The entire world didn’t want him. It would be the least visited memorial ever.
Which is why they buried him at sea, they had nowhere to put him. I’m glad they respected his religion and disp…[Read more] -

I think she is referring to the newfangled “natural play” philosphy. You know, kids jumping around on logs and building slides into fake hills with fake “nature” all around them. Things no insurance company would ever insure for a public playground. There are reasons why public playgrounds have evolved into the rubber tiled, bright colored pile of…[Read more]

Okay…so does this mean gas prices will drop? And is America going to stop spending trillions of $$$ for military bases across the world?

Mike, I love it when people still in school start to tell RLAs about “real world” design and details! I guess those fantasy projects from school adequately prepare students for the real thing. The topic was edging and not the actual play equipment. You are off in a tangent. Did you even see the photos I posted? And what kid is going to trip on a…[Read more]
