I heard of two arhitecture firms inmy area that took some pretty serious fines from ACAD a few years ago – second hand info, but plenty of hints that it was true.
There are several makers of Intellicad that are very reasonably priced (<$400 for the full program). Bricsnet, Progecad, and a couple of other ones that begin with “A” … search…[Read more]

And Texas was supposed to be in better shape economically! Seems like I see more ads for LAs there than anyplace else. I know many don’t believe that more government spending is the answer, but I’m thinking we’ll need a WPA-type program to get people working again. When the rate of indigence reaches a certain level, there is risk of riots, social…[Read more]

Can you elaborate a little bit more about the issues you are having with the soils?

One thing to consider about UC-Denver is that after one year of school you can establish residency and then pay in-state rates for the rest of your time at school.
I am attending UC-Denver for my MLA I in Fall 2011, so if that’s your choice ultimately let me know, because it’s a new city for me too!

Touché haha. I was worried I was going to have to keep paying them during grad school if I took that year off. I found out that it would freeze once I reenrolled so I wouldn’t have to make payments during school which is good. I also looked at colorado’s requirements for establishing domicile and it appears that if I meet enough requirements then…[Read more]

I would suggest that anything that is significantly far from the MSRP would need to be verified for a legitimate license. Software companies do have the ability to track bootleg software and this tracking does identify the IP address of the machine on which it is installed. Beyond not getting support for the software, with that new of a version,…[Read more]

Here in Houston te picture isn’t very bright at all. New construction is very slim and residential market is terrible too.
Most firms here are down anywhere from 30% or more! I do see some signs of hope amongst firms doing work in Asia.

Check Craigslist. Here in Houston I found ACAD 2010 real cheap. (Less than $100).

I’ve worked on wetland projects that used a bentonite liner. There are companies that package it in large 20′ wide rolls here in the US. If I remember correctly it needs to be placed on a layer of compacted sand. A supplier will probably have installation details. Have you found any bentonite suppliers there in Portugal?

She certainly got the conference off to a exciting start. One comment I over heard was “She Gets It”. And I would agree with that comment. She is very inspiring and her message is wonderful. I have to say I heard nothing but positive comments and the link to LA was good with other sessions being offered throughout the ed sessions. I am not sure…[Read more]

Just got an email today from Colorado State University (free advertising)…
They are offering half tuition to in-state sudents this year and no tuition for students that are eligible for Pell Grants. They mentioned that they are 1 of 4 (If I remember) schools in the nation doing this.
Kind of makes me wish I waited to go back to school!

Majora is indeed fantastic. She has spoken at TED in the past and those talks are available on line. She did not, as I recall go deep into urban ag as such, but rather she works to green cities and especially areas where the poor and under-served live (rather than a city’s premier spaces alone)

Yeah, I’d look at Kiley, Rose, and Eckbo, as they really spearheaded the movement. A former professor of mine, Dean Cardasis, is the director of the James Rose Center, and has done excellent work as well.
Most modernist designs use lawn to a large extent, however, that is mostly for the reason that it is the most common groundplane to use for…[Read more]

Landscape architecture in Spain 15 years, 8 months agostarted a new Forum in this group where you can add your contact information. The idea is to have a page where the Spanish landscape architects can post their details (city, email, tf, and web page, photo, …). I post mine like example but is an open format. If somebody has a best idea to have an on-line page with actual information about us is welcome.
