    Hello,

I was recently looking at the steps outside London’s Victoria and Albert Museum. I noticed they do not provide handrails at 1800mm centres, as is advised by the BS8300. Is this sub-standard or does the dimensioning of the steps (ie: shallow and wide) mean that this is not a requirement.

Also does anyone know if the handrails at 1800mm centres are a requirement under the DDA or just recommended practise?

Any advice on this issue would be great.

    Thanks

    Matt
