I’ve been working for a landscape contractor for 8 years running, now working for a consultant in Kuala Lumpur, apparently a lot of shit is happening to my projects where engineers seem to over look conservation here in Malaysia.
We’ve got a beautiful climate but a not so beautiful way of managing projects. I heard that in Australia LAs and…[Read more]

Aren’t we a quiet group! Hello all. I am trying to refine my thesis question or topic. It is going to center around what design principles could successfully be used with native plants particular to a specific bioregion (in my case the pacific northwest, zones 3-5) in order to create a landscape of high design. My purpose is to demonstrate to the…[Read more]

I wanted so say thank you to Abdulkader for the recommendation of the the Illustrated Guide to the flower of Saudi Arabia. It is a great resource. I was hoping that someone might be able to share their experience with procuring plant material in Dubai. The Landscape Contractor that we are working with is procuring most of the plant material from…[Read more]

Jeff,
How do you set up your perspective vantage point? What are the steps involved in setting up and roughing out your perspective renderings?

I want to know how to reach the ultra affluent residential clients in Shanghai, Beijing, and Dubai Any advice?
How do I recruit ridiculously creative landscape graphic artists for perspective drawings and collateral presentation documents?
How do I write secure contracts and payments when working over seas to assure payment? Is this a take a…[Read more]

Sad to see like-a-minds leave the profession and seek totally different jobs these days. Actually I pick small works from Europe/Middle East, and I have not heard much hopeful news in the country for a while. On the other hand, I have come across enthusiastic Japanese garden fan in Europe. So I created the group to share the true stories and info…[Read more]

Some answers to a some questions two pages back: I count L. Azeo Torre and William Kirby Lockard….hehe, and Reimon buyco….as inspirations. My weapon of choice for the draw? A Pilot Rollerball for fine lines, any felt tip pen (Pilot or Pentel) for medium weight lines, and any thick marker (Sharpie, inevitably)…all black. On tracing, or plain…[Read more]

I would absolutely recommend taking a graphics workshop. They can be expensive but they are more of an investment in your self. For me, sketching and graphics is relaxing but also most effective for clear communitcation with the client and saling the design. In 20 minutes I can complete a sketch for a client, make sure we are on the same page…[Read more] -
