Again why do some of the images get stretched out while others look fine… I am guessing that there is some kind of ideal image size for the group walls, does anybody know what that size limit is so that we can actually see what people are posting? Vladimir’s images are all stretched out while right below his Nick’s look perfect, is any one else…[Read more]

First of all there is a diference between turf and lawn, turf is a plant material or a grass, a lawn is a space with low growing plant material most notibly turfgrass. Second, in northern climates where cool season grasses grow do a google search for Eco-Turf by Tom Cook, he is a now retired turfgrass expert out of Oregon State University, he…[Read more]

talk to your local product reps, most of whom would be very happy to supply you with their product, for your test project, because once you find the solution, you are more likely to repeat the results and spec the product on the next job, thus adding to their sales totals.

The flip side that the engineers still need to deal with is a cloudy day and at night, capacitors don’t seem to be effecient at holding all of the energy, so you can’t “bank” the power for night time use, much like wind power (and most other forms of alternative energy) you are limited to the times when the plant is producing.

the best solar plant for size is probibly the heliostat array in Seville Spain. the mirrors focus the suns energy on a boiler which boils water and powers a steam turbine, the sysem powers 6,000 homes and takes up roughly 20+ acres of land, Seville is in the process of building more of these collection systems in the goal of achieving total day…[Read more]

Get your point across…. make corrections… present final… recieve payment. which ever you are most comfortable (HAND OR DIGITAL) and your client is most willing to pay you for is the best way to produce graphics.

Thanks for the complents… all of the above were dont in photoshop, i have only recently started to use the corel products, but the eventual goal is to mimic markers or color pencils, or acrylic paint, the one advantage over hand drawn is when a client doen’t like a color or they make revisions I can sometimes make corrections before I hang up…[Read more]

Land F/X is a great tool if you are going to do a concept to working drawings set and are looking for real world ability to create and modify a great set of plans, it is functional within Autocad and now BricsCad ( a cheeper version of ACAD, which looks very powerful for the price), and LandF/X functions with SketchUp (which is not a TOY as stated…[Read more]

I think the best point that has been made, and has been repeated several times throught this thread is that you have to do what suits your talents, and availible options, I run a business where I do landscape architectural rendering and am fortunate enough to have a full set of markers, a full set of color pencils, a Wacom Cintiq drawing tablet…[Read more]

There is also one point that everyone seems to be missing, and that is the “American Dream”. if you live on the east coast the idea of living in a brownstone and moving to a Penthouse is a plausible dream (staying within the framwork of high density), but most people opt to head to the suburb, across the bridge, into an area that they can have to…[Read more]

Bob Luther replied to the topic Bioswales / Stormwater Manage in Arid Climates in the forum SUSTAINABILITY & DESIGN 15 years, 5 months ago
we have been asked by cities to incorporate bioswales into the landscape of parking lots and shopping centers, we normally use a fescue mix that is slow growing and drougnt tolerant (because it is normally in a high visiblity area along the street) we place the swale area on its own irrigation valve and then the area can be left without water for…[Read more]
