ok here is the story about LAND FX and UCLA.

When I was in irrigation, I heard about the program. I contacted them, told them that because I was at UCLA Extension I did not have an edu email. They were really sweet and did allow me to dowload the program for a year for free. This is an exellent program for irrigations and details. I was in touch with the programers who explained me the program wich is really a plug for autocad. They offered a 2 hours demo for our class . (I am not sure if it was for free or not, anyways it would have been great)

I passed the info to all my classmate and most of them used it. I did talked to the instructors about it and here is what happened as it often happens with computor programs. They are sooooo used to do everything by hand that they did not have any interest for it. Honestly, the do have a point as FX can calculate so much for you, even your piping that they also are worried that we would not learn the basics irrigation and understand it. But it is a bit like using a calculator…you need to use it but a the same time you anderstand the basics of calculating right?

This is something that some one could talk toStephanie as she seams more respondent to the new technology. I am sure that there would be a way to teach irrigation and the rogram at the same time. I beleive that this is a must know program for the future.

Now why is Land acting this way with UCLA extension students? Simply because they are tired of ansering individual questions constantly when they offred a better way….I cannot blame them.By the way, why can’t we simply ask if we could get an .edu email?

I like the suggestion for “Land Architect” I am getting very tired of everyone inviting me to plant their backyard when they hear the term: “landscape”. Land architect fits very well what we do. Good suggestion Nick!
