Oh I am biased as I went to LSU. As for your cons to LSU. The humidity…….its hot and stickly, its Louisiana. For 6 months you will sweat as you walk from the car to the studio. As for partying, you will be in the studio more than anything. As for not knowing anyone….I moved from Jersey to LSU and while it was hard to initially get over the…[Read more]

Oh the revolving door comment was because I know a lot of people my age, aka just out of college, who have been hired by firms like Sasiki and to be fired within two years. But your def. right, better to have a revolving door than no door.

Thank you Trace, for telling me how the world works. I feel better now.
California has a high cost of living compared to the rest of the US, therefor salaries are higher to compensate.

David Farber replied to the topic Is Revit the future for Landscape Architecture? in the forum TECHNOLOGY 14 years, 1 month ago
Both Revit and BIM do not transition to landscape architecture easily. Or should I say that landscape architecture doesn’t transition to them easily. As more engineers use these programs so do architects. Unfortunately site design and an easy interface inst something either programs interfaces excel at…..at all.

David Farber replied to the topic MLA needed now for an Entry Level Job? in the forum GENERAL DISCUSSION 14 years, 1 month ago
Supply and Demand. There are more people, supply, then there is demand. I havent really seen this though. Companies asking for MLA’s for entry level? Where? What companies? If your good enough they will want you as an investment.

You need connections with firms. Following a path that literally hundreds are taking wont get you to your goal.

David Farber replied to the topic Job Opportunities in Boston Area in the forum GENERAL DISCUSSION 14 years, 1 month ago
Ofcourse California pays more, look at how expensive everything is.
Thats a big move. If I was you I would get some assurance of a job before hand. Dont go blindly. Oh and Sasaki is like a revolving door to the grunts of the office.

Having finished my interviews after college a few months ago, I would say looks, personality, presentation of yourself certainly matters alot. I spend more time with everyone at work then I do anyone else on the planet. You need to be able to be around them all the time. Besides that connections are key aswell. Portfolio, resume, internships are…[Read more]

Hey Blake I graduated this past May from LSU!
April, go to LSU, it changed me alot. You are going to have a different experience than most because of the age and maturity difference. I loved LSU, lead me straight to a great job. The program is ranked so high, the best teachers, everything really. (besides the occasional hurricane, or oil ball)

I graduating in May, just started a new job. Thats the most diffucult thing, to wake up each day and check the email, and recheck and recheck and recheck. All it takes is one person, one connection. Have to keep your head up. I felt the exact sameway.
