Design Technology 15 years, 11 months agoI like the plant library in vue and the ability to populate large areas, but it would be hard to get into a firm, so expensive and importing other geometries isn’t the best. I just like messing with it.
Are the 3d and 4th using the vue/3d max plug in? I haven’t really gone into it that far yet but it seems good.

Laughing at landscape architecture 15 years, 11 months agothat’s about ten times the amount of cycling space given to the whole city of phoenix, and one night’s worth of water used for a residential irrigation system!

Design Technology 16 years, 1 month agoIs anybody using VUE? It is pretty good though most materials would have to be custom made. Good interface with Max and is import/export.

Green Streets 16 years, 1 month agoWelcome Kevin. It’s great to have you involved with our group. I am a big fan of much of your work which has continued to push the envelope for innovative LID solutions.
I also wanted to mention that I just recently moved to Seattle to pursue 2 Professional certificate Programs at The University of Washington. One is in Wetland Science and M…[Read more]

Green Streets 16 years, 2 months agoWelcome Kevin! Thanks Jason for your comments on maintenance. After e-mail chats with many people, the fundamental move is to have regular inspections to look for needed maintenance patterns. I agree that it is a relatively new field for L. archs, and so the phrase “moving target” is apropos for the moment.

Stone 16 years, 2 months agoI’m a big fan of stone in the landscape. I have a friend who asked me to create an Inukshuk for him as a tie-in to the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver (the logo). I was inspired to create a second one (shown here) using stone that had been laying around for decades in “spoil” piles around the iron range region in northern Minnesota.
Obviously,…[Read more]

Design Technology 16 years, 2 months agoI just got Revit and am starting to play around with it. Has anybody started to use it? I might have to take a training course though. We will see.
Also started playing with Maya’s MEL scripting. I got a book called “MEL Scripting for Animators” which is really good so far but slow to get through.

The Sustainable Sites Initiative 16 years, 3 months agoYes, the meeting went great! Stacy summed it up pretty good. It was fantastic to have Dominique come in and talk with us about her experiences using SSI on a project. From our discussions, we know there are a lot of kinks in SSI (as one would expect) but my feeling from her was that the document works well in establishing that necessary baseline…[Read more]

The Sustainable Sites Initiative 16 years, 3 months agoI thought it was great – especially Dominique’s experience with SSI for Lenexa City Center project. Several of the pre-requisites were un-achievable on that one. Those points were very worthy, highlighted the critical importance of proper site selction and deemed certainly worth keeping central in the SSI focus, but totally screwd the pooch (so to…[Read more]
