Hi Anthony
sorry if you were waiting for a reply- the way these posts are updated seems pretty weird- its not quite linear enough of a trail for me- the responses seem to be quickly sucked up into little ‘mini-threads’ …or is it just me 🙂
hey, no compatibility issues whatsoever. Open Type fonts have sorted the old issues of font translation. Seriously I don’t mind what rings your bell- have noticed the inevitable slanging matches going on, mostly without substance. Claims and counter claims and price comparisons- the whole hog!
I think most of us were weaned on a pc (myself included), therefore hard to a.) change; b.) understand real value (including software that comes with a mac); c.) lost time/productivity (I spent hours a week fixing, scanning, re-installing, restoring info., freezes, etc- that in itself is worth many $ and some serious rage).
Again guys- whatever floats your boat- for me its a mac.
ciao.

ciao

June 22, 2011 at 6:54 am #167059Greg BurwoodParticipantwhy Alex- whats the difference do you think?
June 22, 2011 at 6:50 am #161881Greg BurwoodParticipantI was a PC user for years then changed to mac. Best decision of my life.
I now have windows 7 running on bootcamp (restart) or through vmware (on the fly). When I do switch (for 3dmax) I can’t wait to get back to the mac environment. Apart from max (starting to use rhino for mac) I only ever go back to update antivirus and maintenance- end up fiddling + wasting my time with just trying to keep windows happy.
As I said, I never use windows now.
macs are also not as expensive as they say if you compare apples with apples as far as I’m concerned. The apps are excellent and seamless integration with iphone, ipad etc.
I applaud apple for making sure developers follow strict coding and design requirements. Sometimes less freedom is more freedom.
apologies if I sound like a fanboi !
anyway best of luck.

June 3, 2011 at 3:51 pm #162553Greg BurwoodParticipantthis is an interesting topic for me too- have you learnt anything new since posting?- this could encourage some people in the know to respond, which would help us all…
May 24, 2011 at 3:09 pm #167061Greg BurwoodParticipantHi Emily, thanks for replying- ditto recent eu passport holder! so no visa problems :), can’t do the states unfortunately. yes had a look at wageningin as well as hs-anhalt (bauhaus affiliated in bernburg germany) and copenhagen plus a couple of m.urb design courses. we will see- I need flexibility to work/ freelance while doing 2 years, else it will be too hard financially. Intensive focused study would be ok as long as there are decent breaks to generate an income…not sure its going to work out for me, so where are you studying- in europe? at wageningin? whats it like?
May 22, 2011 at 2:27 pm #167063Greg BurwoodParticipantbump, um anyone?
May 17, 2011 at 5:25 pm #167064Greg BurwoodParticipantHi Maria
That MLA at Copenhagen looks good!
Would probably be looking at the Urban Design specialization but don’t want to be tied up in Copenhagen full time as I have a small business in the Netherlands- read somewhere that the course is made up of short intensive blocks of study- 2 x 6 weeks or so = 1 term? with lots of own study time in between- is this true?
Do you have your old timetable? If I could get an idea of how much of the week you had to be there physically and how many weeks of the year, and when the breaks were (roughly) that would be a great help. What I’m trying to get at is would I be able to take work ‘home’ with me? or do you have to be there 24/7 to get through it?
I suppose 2nd year you had more ‘free’ time than 1st?
Would be great to hear some constructive criticism of the course, tutors, facilities etc- has it made a difference to you professionally, is it recognized internationally etc?
George- may see you there- what finally convinced you decide to pick this one?
