LDS Landscape Architects 17 years, 1 month agoI did hear about it! I don’t know who is going to design the temple but I hope they rely on the beautiful and rich history and architecture for inspiration. Can’t wait to see the finished product! If you end up getting an inside scoop on any details let us know. A good friend of mine designed the Sacramento Temple, I got to see it go through the…[Read more]

Graphics Teacher Workshops 17 years, 1 month agoI attended Mike Lin graphic workshop ( 1 week) two years ago, it was very good for me. The workshop help me in a lot of areas, of course after that workshop I did my homework, it is not a magic, you have to practice in order to improve your graphic skills. At work I do a lot of photoshop renderings and after I took the workshop, I see a lot…[Read more]

Graphics Teacher Workshops 17 years, 1 month agoIn January 2007, I attended the PHOTOSHOP W/ ILLUSTRATOR workshop provided by LND Digital Workshop. It was a small group, 12 people I believe, so it wasnt two days of techniques being jammed in your face, there was actual time for discussion. The workshop focused on photoshop ‘basics’ first, tools that will be utilized throughout the workshop. The…[Read more]

Residential Design Group 17 years, 1 month agoA member in another forum in the lounge asked a question about resume’s and CV’s- where might she find a template to create these.
Here’s an online resource I found recently that might be of use to some of you-I haven’t used it myself., but it does seem to have potential.

Planning Profession and Landscape Architecture 17 years, 2 months agoHere’s an example of the political aspect of planning and landscape architecture:
Nrschmid:
“However, some of them [landscape architects] struggle to find the underlying meaning in the ordinances and what has been established by plan commissions as precedent. For example, one community’s ordinance might allow Betula nigra (River birch) but the r…[Read more] -

Planning Profession and Landscape Architecture 17 years, 2 months agoZoning is way to control activities, which is important for a city. But as we all know cities are dynamic, some people even suggest that the city is a living organisim. froming this point of view, “zoing” should work in different ways comparing with exisiting and conventional “zoning” practices.
I think “zoning” is also a tool for the authority to…[Read more] -

Planning Profession and Landscape Architecture 17 years, 2 months agoWell, that wasn’t he part of the quote that I was trying to emphasize, I’m not going to stand here and say that the government has cornered the market on corruption, the argument really isn’t about morality, its about social functions.
You are entitled to your assessment of Jane Jacob’s work but her contribution to urban design theory is…[Read more]

Graphics 17 years, 3 months agoResponse to comment by Brent Farrar, I have used turpentine and pastels on normal paper. you get a similar effect of watercolour, but the paper does not wrinkle, this was my solution to getting the watercolour feel without all the hassle.

Graphics 17 years, 3 months agoHey Brandon….thanks for the invite. I use Vectorworks to create landscape designs…..do you know where can I find more information on realistic coloring techniques to use on my Vectorworks drawings so it looks like I used real colored pencils. Are there any other ways to make the drawings look high end? Peace!
