i use layout all the time…it saves time and is really a powerful tool to create presentations.  given the new dimensions, hatch and scrapbooks, it takes your presentations to a whole new level..

Thank you so much for the compliment Mina. Looking at NPR renderings always inspires me.  Here are the links for the tutorials i used to come up with my technique:

    NPR Trees in Photoshop: http://www.sketchupartists.org/2012/02/npr-trees-in-photoshop/

    Happy rendering!!!

oh and some of the entourage i use, i bought from entourage arts

hi mina, thanks for appreciating my designs….anyway ill try to list down my work flow on photoshop ( im relatively new to photoshop, but here goes nothing):

    plants & entourage

I make my own entourage by using images i find on the net or from my own camera.  Upon selecting my desired image i immediately erase the background/s by using the wand or any selective tool (color range works well).  And then apply preset effects from the toolbar ( watercolor and palette  knife).  I just follow a tutorial i found at youtube for converting pictures into npr images.

    model

i make my model from any modelling software and then export an image without any entourage.  but i make sure that the terrain and leveling are shown for easy manipulation of entourage (perspective)

    putting things together

i then use photoshop to put things together.  just layering my entourage, tweaking their size and opacity to match the perspective and levels.  i then would set the mood by applying my desired atmospheric effect (sky & sun) image.  Once  im pretty sure about my rendering i would then flatten the image.

    NPR effect

Duplicate the image and use find edges or glowing edges to find the edges in the drawing.. tweak it  a bit and set it to multiply.  i would then add a new layer over the flattened image and then paint it white.  Use the eraser tool and set the right brush (marker or colored pencil) + grain  + tweak opacity  and then start selectively erasing the image, leaving some white spaces behind to create the illusion of an npr rendering.

I basically watched tutorial videos on youtube to formulate this technique…in the end its your own artistic style which would dictate your rendering and give it character.

    Hope this helps!!

    Hi kevin

I use photoshop to create my perspectives…after i flatten my image, i then create a new overlay layer and paint it white, still in the same layer i use the eraser tool, pick a brush that resembles a marker or colored pencil, play with the opacity and start erasing the white overlay one click at a time until i get my desired effect….
