My firm has a regular daily ad that runs on NPR. I hear it twice a day while at work… we are an Engineering, LA, Land Planning firm.

This does look pretty cool… seems much quicker and more accurate than sketchup and you don’t seem to have to have to worry about that one random line on a different layer that messes things up later on in the modeling process… i will do more research on this one.

Did he offend you by “presuming” that you were a member of the ASLA? Jeeze.
Brandm, you deserve a lot of credit for being an adult and trying cool out a dialogue that was deteriorating into something not of the standard of the Land8 or the profession.
Thanks man, I will follow your example.

Classy.
Here we go. Don’t take the high road all of sudden my man and accuse me of not respecting my elders (the first time since I was 7 that I was accused of that–memories!). I can point out several condescending statements you have made, so explain how that inspires respect? Manners are a two way street after all and respect has to be e…[Read more] -

I just realized that Alan Ray, RLA is pretty catchy.
In my opinion a junior landscape architect is still a landscape architect, albeit a limited one without the stamp. If it walks like a duck…
Why do I feel this way? Simple: I do the work and I think like a landscape architect. More specifically I have done complex grading exercises, put…[Read more] -

Also, architects say they are architects even if they have not yet become registered. I have never heard someone say that they are a Structure Designer even once, so it is interesting that some in this profession insist on such a distinction.
I think this is thoroughly a non-issue and I find it very funny that there is at this point 17 pages…[Read more] -

It does, found it today after a long time of seraching… very handy so far. I had a grading plan done by another firm that had no elevation information, so to manually go through and click every polyline and go to the properties dialogue was waaay too tedious. Found this one and it works great. I put an elevation on the first segment, and ch…[Read more]

Nah. Life is about navigating through actual troubles and challenges as effortlessly as possible. The strategy that has worked well for me is the random drop-in visit, with your resume on hand, a printed portfolio if you have one and a business card that has your contact info and website if you have one. It has the potential to back fire if they are uber-busy, but I think that if you can keep the interaction brief, shake hands and make eye…[Read more]

80-90% of the population has no idea what landscape architecture is let alone have the ability distinguish between an RLA and an ULAWITALDUTPTE (Unregistered Landscape Architect Who Is Tecnically A Landscape Designer Until They Pass The Exam).
