Hello Brandon – Many thanks for the two suggestions. Simutis’s work effectively simulates traditional watercolour (it may actually be watercolour). I had a bit of trouble navigating the Bowen Studios site, but that’s probably just me. Cheers, Laith

Hello Robert – Thank you for contributing to this discussion. Luis Callejas’ graphic communication style crosses over the lines of illustration, graphic design, and visual art. Intellectually beautiful work. Cheers, Laith

Hi Daniel. Apologies for this late reply. That’s great news you offer this service. Could you post a link to your on-line portfolio? The link in your Land* leads to a page in Japanese? Thanks.

Hi Bob.
Thanks a lot for your input.
Ahh, yes. The great Daniel Tal. Mr Tal does very nice work. I think he is more into training and instruction than producing renderings for other companies. I could be wrong here. Worth checking this.

CivilCAD 3D is the “Revit” of the civil engineers world and has many applications for landscape architecture. It is the tool for any land modelling, road or pathway corridors, drainage etc, what you would expect from a package for civil engineers. For quanitity take offs this sounds good. We use LandFX which could be similar. Kind off BIM for site (SIM).

We use data from past tenders. We want a tool to manage this data to use for new “estimates”. For example, we can extract a relevant rate for granite paving given a certain quanity based on rates from past tenders.

Hi Keith
For the record we call an estimate an “Opinion of Probable Cost”. However we try to get these as close as possible, within 10% of the tender price, is good.

thanks for your input. Really appreciate it.
We also use Excel which is great for storing data like rates for each item. But we find it has limitations in managing complexity. Prices vary due to the scale of the project, location etc. We are looking for something more database-like to manage the data.
