So far I’ve got Brazil but I’m having a little trouble with the work around for the license. I hate Vista. Its supposed to be compatible with most versions of 3d Max so give it a trySplutterfish Brazil RS v1.2.66 for 3ds Max9 (32bit).rar

Quick question for ya’ll. A buddy of mine works at a Hollywood animation studio and said he could get me any kind of rendering software, scripts, plug-ins, etc. for 3ds Max for free. I just need to tell him what I want. Suggestions?

For whatever reason Apple won’t fix the touchpad so that it works right in Bootcamp. I use a normal mouse most the time though so its not really a problem for me. One reason Vista may run faster than OS X is if you have the 64 bit version of windows installed with 4 or more GB of RAM. Leopard is only a 32-bit OS (as far as I know) so it can’t use…[Read more]

just some food for thought here but ironically enough Mac’s are setup in such a way that they actually run Vista better than PC’s. I don’t know the technical explanation (something to do with unix) but I will say that I’ve had a lot fewer problems with Vista Enterprise x64 on my macbook pro via bootcamp than I have had with my Dell desktop.

I personally hate parallels. I had xp installed through vmware fusion so I could run Autocad and it was so slow, even after I tweaked all the settings, that I just went back to bootcamp. If you think about it, it takes just as long to load up the virtual disk in parallels as it does to reboot in bootcamp. The difference is, in bootcamp your…[Read more]

I’ve used 3ds max in the design development phase a good bit. For me its much easier and quicker to take a CAD site map into 3d max and pop up buildings, basic trees, etc. Doesn’t look pretty but it gives you a better feel for your site and its alot more accurate and faster than sketchup.

Is Squint just a rendering firm or do they actually design as well? Their animations are pretty amazing but it doesn’t seem practical for anybody outside Hollywood to spend that much time and money creating such comprehensive animations.

I would definitely visit Versailles while you’re in Paris. I thought it was amazing when I went and I’m not very easily impressed. The scale of it alone is mind blowing. I would suggest skipping the indoor tour though unless decadent furniture is your thing.

I personally would go with Autocad over Vectorworks for a couple reasons. To start, Autocad is the industry standard as far as drafting goes so alot more people know the program. Also, as more schools push digital rendering, more and more students are using software like 3ds Max and Revit which don’t play well with Vectorworks linework. On the…[Read more]

I’ve got a very straight forward manual for 3ds Max called “3ds Max Architectural Visualization.” I use it all the time for reference and unlike most program manuals its very easy to follow. Pretty much covers all the basics. Just follow this link and the password is “dallas”.

3ds Max is great but once you start on a model its hard to stop. Its addictive. Maybe its just me but I always start off with the intent of making a quick model for some perspectives and somehow I end up modeling half the city.
