LDS Landscape Architects 16 years, 6 months agoI served in Poland from 99-01, and personally no one place made an impact on my design, but rather the entire European style. It was the first time I lived in a place that had the typical European streetscape of a business on the 1st floor and residences for the next 3 or 4 on top of the business. Something so simple, but growing up in MO you…[Read more]

LDS Landscape Architects 16 years, 6 months agoI am not LDS, but would love to hear of any experiences that you may have had or places you saw on your missions that affected the way that you design or that inspired you. Also if you have pictures of the temples and the ground from around the world please add them to an album and post so that we enjoy them.
Thanks

LEED in Landscape Architecture 16 years, 6 months agoYeah, you’re probably just over thinking it a little. I used the chart in the LEED AP Walkthrough, which is probably the same as the one on IntheLeed.com. I will say that there weren’t that many questions that related directly to project roles in the particular question pool that I had when I sat for the test (maybe 5), what I can say is that…[Read more]

LEED in Landscape Architecture 16 years, 6 months agoAnyone still studying to pass under LEED 2.2:
There are 2 resources that I used to study that I think were critical to success, I think these have been mentioned before but If you’re on the fence about what resources to spend your money on here’s what I think are the two best values:I have to throw my support behind Intheleed.com’s LEED AP…[Read more]

Portfolios and Resumes – Design Strategies 16 years, 8 months agoGreat idea for a group! As I accumulate drawings with each class, I am at a loss of what to do with it all, what is worthy to include in a portfolio and how best to create a portfolio.

“The greatest designer is normal people—the best cities in the world were not designed” – my frien i think we may include that in the design category. not in the academic kind, but in the category of the design made by specific needs of people, but is design.

LEED in Landscape Architecture 16 years, 10 months agoI’ve been aware of SSI but hadn’t seen their latest report. Go to: http://www.sustainablesites.org
You’ll find a link to the report on the first page. I must say, the “documentation” requirements suggested in this report read like an undergraduate studio assignment for a year-long class. My recent work on a small LEED project looks like a total of…[Read more] -

DESIGN 16 years, 10 months agoHi Barlow…hmmmmmmm sweeping statement, but none the less there is some merit in what you say, but surely it is not simply an american[USA] problem. I guess it depends on whose work you are looking at, and at what stage they are at in their careers. It takes time to develop individuality.
