Graphics 17 years, 4 months agoI just picked up a handful of Blick markers. Are they any good? I’ve used AD and Prismacolor, are these better, worse, or about the same?

Pacific Northwest 17 years, 6 months agoI put an album on my folio called “Parks & Restoration . Anderson Property”. This is the project I worked on which integrates restoration and design (part of the paper I mentioned in the last email). A topic which could be argued about. You also might want to go to UW campus and see the Fisheries building and adjacent parking lot and the Shell…[Read more]

Pacific Northwest 17 years, 6 months agoHi Karen, I wrote a paper on your topic, “The Restoration of a Harvested Thuja plicata/Tsuga heterophylla Forest Ecosystem to Recreate Mature Second Growth with Old-Growth Characteristics and Aesthetic Qualities” I believe you can use native plants in such a way that can achieve a “stunning landscape”. As those who have already stated in this…[Read more]

Graphics 17 years, 7 months agoResponse to comment by Brent Farrar, I have used turpentine and pastels on normal paper. you get a similar effect of watercolour, but the paper does not wrinkle, this was my solution to getting the watercolour feel without all the hassle.

Graphics 17 years, 7 months agoHey Brandon….thanks for the invite. I use Vectorworks to create landscape designs…..do you know where can I find more information on realistic coloring techniques to use on my Vectorworks drawings so it looks like I used real colored pencils. Are there any other ways to make the drawings look high end? Peace!

Pacific Northwest 17 years, 7 months agoAren’t we a quiet group! Hello all. I am trying to refine my thesis question or topic. It is going to center around what design principles could successfully be used with native plants particular to a specific bioregion (in my case the pacific northwest, zones 3-5) in order to create a landscape of high design. My purpose is to demonstrate to the…[Read more]

Graphics 17 years, 7 months agohi brent – sketches i will do directly onto watercolor paper. but more complex drawings can be done on vellum or trace, scanned and then printed onto even very heavy wc paper using the (awesome!)epson 3800 printer – amazing – looks just like an original pencil drawing…

LSU Robert Reich School of Landscape Architecture 17 years, 7 months agoWe are all back in motion. School started back up monday and the Design building seems to be doing fine. Some of the faculty and students in Baton Rouge still are without power but the majority do have power.
Looks like Ike is bringing some winds and rain but nothing like Gustav so I assume everything will be ok and we won’t have any more setbacks.

LSU Robert Reich School of Landscape Architecture 17 years, 7 months agoSo what’s up on campus? It sounds like power is back. But are things in gear now? Or did the hurricane and the threat of another set classes back further than it might seem from the outside?

Graphics 17 years, 7 months agoSome answers to a some questions two pages back: I count L. Azeo Torre and William Kirby Lockard….hehe, and Reimon buyco….as inspirations. My weapon of choice for the draw? A Pilot Rollerball for fine lines, any felt tip pen (Pilot or Pentel) for medium weight lines, and any thick marker (Sharpie, inevitably)…all black. On tracing, or plain…[Read more]

Graphics 17 years, 8 months agoTatiana, the best method I found effective is to collect 50% up front then final payment before you release documents/drawings. Let them know up front and in most cases they will be OK with that. When You call them to tell them their project is finished, tell them you will email or fax the invoice to them and to bring it and the payment when they…[Read more]
