Michael Van BeekParticipant“Have you posted this with ASAI or NYSR yet?” no i have not, if there is anything i/we could do to get the word out please let me know… and rfox i was thinking it would be something where a contestant would submit any work they think meets the criteria of “digital representation of a landscape installation”

Michael Van BeekParticipantwell, i was hoping to get the word out with this discussion. Wouldnt it be cool to display the competition on the main page and have everyone that comes to the site able to cast their vote?… maybe have real-time updates an whatnot… this could be fun/exciting/awesome.

Michael Van BeekParticipantbtw from now on it would be best to post a question like this on the main discussion board which is on the group page. no big deal. just an FYI.

Michael Van BeekParticipantwell, personally for the water he is standing on i would make a plane and used the water material in 3ds. I would then take an image like that and combine in photoshop once you have the main scene rendered. it would be much easier to get a life like result… dont be afraid to not model everything… only model what works and photoshop the rest. this might not be exactly the answer you are looking for but i think its probably the right one. hope it helps…

Michael Van BeekParticipantto make a reference to painting i would say 3ds is like the drawing and under painting stages… These parts of the process are extremely important they dictate the proportion and overall tone of the final work but… if you dont do the final stage the image just doesnt look finished. Photoshop is the final and critical step for a ballin’ image.
