Hello everybody. I’m new to this group.
I’m doing 3D renderings for living. We use Rhino (favorite), Chief Architect and Photoshop.
What does Travis want to know about computer renderings?

  • I think I’m gonna’ like it in here! Anybody working in the MacOS environment with plan graphics & colour rendering?

    For me great design is:
    1. Creating memory places
    2. Creating a sense of place (genus loci)
    3. Guardian of identity
    4. Interest of users health, safety and welfare
What Mack mentioned is true for me as one who has had the experience on both sides, as the one to experience and admire and the one to create

Something that moves people, makes them stop and think “I wish I could do that, But even though I can’t… I am glad some one did it for me.”

Travis, yes, a lot of modeling and rendering. Pretty much any program I can get but mainly Maya, Rhino and Digital Projects.

Very excited about this group. Isn’t it interesting that we spend so much of our time perfecting our graphics for presentation purposes, and find more ways to communicate our intent in design, though in the end our designs are usually judged on the ability to properly solve a need or fulfill a desired use (which is appropriate). But what part of…[Read more]

  • I just want to say thanks for joining my group…..I think graphics are so important to our profession……I don’t think that we emphasize them enough…..It is important to remember that graphics are one of the most important means we have to communicate and convey ideas and emotion……I love all of your input so far…..Looking forward to…[Read more]

    Thanks for the invite Brandon!…
Looking forward in exchanging notes with everybody here.

  • Gabriel,

I do all of my best renderings on trace paper….just standard trace

My favorite markers are copic sketch markers because you can erase them from trace paper….

    I love prismacolor pencils….

I draw all of my linework with a combination of prismacolor black pencil and staedtler pens……

That is my basic repetoire or arsenal for…[Read more]

Brandon, What are your favorite media (type of paper, markers, pencils etc.) and why?

I’ll try to to respond to a few of these..
Have not found any gabion details from EDAW projects yet – although i’ve seen some good photos posted on the Parc Diagonal del Mar project in Barcelona.

Hopefully these framework plans lead to implementable design as they have in the past. Cultural aspects have been considered although often they seem…[Read more]

I don’t but I think Craig from Denver is looking for a similar detail. you may want to check with him. If you find something would you mind sharing it with the group? thanks

    Hi there,
I’m doing a project with 3m high free standing gabion wall using welded mesh baskets (75 x75mm grid) filled alternately with sandstone and basalt to simulate coal seam profile. Does anyone have a detail for the structural support for this kind of wall? Thanks for any info.

Craig, how far does the framework plan go?
Sounds like there are plenty interesting projects going on in China especially the brownfield redevelopment part. Did you guys associate any cultural issues with the plan? There are always stories behind those rivers with thousands of years of history in China. Besides, the reuse of industrial sites is…[Read more]
