I thought I would contribute some different digital and hand techniques I’ve experimented with over the last few semesters as an undergrad. Before I returned to school for Landscape Architecture I enrolled in a 12 month cad drafting course and read all the landscape graphics books I could get my hands on, which still seem sort of…[Read more]

Graphics 16 years, 10 months agoDoes anybody have any suggestions or examples for rendering a master plan in a desert environment? I’m trying to finish up my capstone project so I can graduate and I’ve run into a little snag. I go to school in the south so drawing a rocky barren landscape with clusters of cactus is a first.

Graphics 16 years, 10 months agowhat is the best size of image so that it does not distort, I noticed that many of the images, including mine are being stretched into a tall and “squeezed” format, are these do to i9mage size or my computer settings?

Therapeutic Landscapes Network 16 years, 10 months agoThanks Naomi! My passion lies in gardens for children, elderly, and those in need of healing. I would like to maintain and grow my knowledge base in these areas. Unfortunately in my current position, I have no outlet to express my ideas. I have designed children’s gardens, gardens for assisted living facilities, etc, but all on my own. Without g…[Read more]

Student Lounge 16 years, 10 months agoHello all, I am Craig and I dwell in San Francisco. I will soon be starting my 2nd year in the Design Certificate Program at U.C. Berkeley Extension. I welcome any input about anything. Does anyone have any ideas about summer work somehow linked to L.A. in the Bay area?

You can also link to her thesis, which I’ll be posting soon on the Therapeutic Landscapes Database.

Therapeutic Landscapes Network 16 years, 11 months agoHi Naomi,
I guess I can put some pictures of gardens shown on confference with short description of the places and work on my site. There were initiatives started as civil initiatives and community gardens for example in Sarajevo (BiH) and now they are planning certificate programme for this part of Europe, what would be great. I can send Daniel…[Read more] -

Graphics Teacher Workshops 16 years, 11 months agoThis past weekend I took Richard Scott’s Sketching on Location Workshop in Central Park. Great class. Twelve “students” from high school junior to college students to middle-aged designers. Richard is a great teacher, clear, supportive and scary good at drawing and water color. I plan on continuing freehand sketching and water coloring (?) for fun…[Read more]

Therapeutic Landscapes Network 16 years, 11 months agoHi Katrina, the best way to find out about horticulture therapy certificate programs, in the Bay Area or anywhere, is to contact the American Horticultural Therapy Association (http://www.ahta.org/). I know that Marni Barnes teaches a class on therapeutic landscape design at the UC Berkeley Extension, and there may be others as well. But for hort.…[Read more]

I believe that the SF Botanical Garden offers a Certificate Program. You can follow this link to get in contact with the program (http://caahta.org/education.htm).
