Hong Kong Landscape Architecture 14 years, 3 months agoTo Andrew Slater, There are many species of plants from Bamboo, Climbers, Conifers, Grasses, Ground Cover, Palms, Shrubs and Trees suitable, if you can be a little more specific as to location in Hong Kong. Then I can give you actually what plants you require. James G. James Walker-Green < james@jwgspecialists.com>,

Hong Kong Landscape Architecture 14 years, 3 months agoHi everyone,
I have just won a small design job and looking for a bit of advice.
Can anyone give me a short list of plants that would be easy to source in Hong Kong and suitable for planting around an industrial site (ie very low maintenance!)
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Many thanks

Portfolios and Resumes – Design Strategies 14 years, 3 months agoThanks for the feedback, Page! It’s funny, looking back now I obviously should have clarified a number of issues you picked up on.
The document is set up in an 8×10 Blurb template (because most of my sites are portrait orientation) and the “cover page” is actually Page 1 of a Blurb template (the cover is a separate document at this time because…[Read more] -

Hong Kong Landscape Architecture 14 years, 3 months agoHi all,
I am a 4th year student who has previously worked in China and then also visited Hong Kong. Where I fell in love, with the city that is (!). Now I would really like to go back and I thought it would be really nice to spend a semester there. Do you guys have any ideas at all of courses or schools within the field of urban planning/design…[Read more] -

Planning Profession and Landscape Architecture 14 years, 3 months agoHello!
Just wanted to see how many planners-turned-LAs there are. I know there is a significant amount of shared history and values, but the technical skill set of LAs set them apart. I’m considering doing the switch myself, and plan on slowly picking up the skills part-time. Are there many who have done this? Any advice?

Portfolios and Resumes – Design Strategies 14 years, 4 months ago@ Peter Coyle. Regarding the pdf portfolio you uploaded to this wall, here are my comments on layout.
Cover page: clean layout but a missed opportunity to immediately showcase your skills. Consider some of your images as a semi-transparent background, or a small thumbnail strategically placed. Re-format the cover to landscape orientation so…[Read more] -

NB: this is a low resolution copy for upload size reasons, so smaller text is illegible (focusing on general content/layout). Thanks in advance for any comments!

Drawing Shortcuts 14 years, 8 months agoThanks Tim and Cynthia. Next webinar will really get into strategic thinking about perspectives and drawing composition – my favorites! I’ll cook up some more video clips and hopefully control the camera focus a bit more than in last night’s program.

Portfolios and Resumes – Design Strategies 15 years, 2 months agoChristopher- The thing that stood out the most is your resume. Move your education down towards the bottom- below everything other than maybe affiliations. With it on top, above professional experience, you are making it look like it is more important than your actual work.

Portfolios and Resumes – Design Strategies 15 years, 3 months agoMark, I wouldn’t hesitate to go back to your old employer to ask for more samples. That employer could be very understanding of the circumstances “out there” and want to help you. – Who knows, maybe he will have just gotten a big job and will need to hire you back!
